WDYT of Lawyer?

I love [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m]! I dunno, [name_u]Sailor[/name_u], [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] and [name_m]Fisher[/name_m] are names I like. I love [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] paired with Lewelyn (spelled this way since no one seems to be able to spell it if their not on Nameberry), [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (len-uh) and [name_f]Lumi[/name_f]. L is one of my favorite letters, I guess.
Nicknames and middle names are hard and I love nicknames, so… maybe I shouldn’t consider ever using it… What do you all think?

I love unique names, but this one screams occupational to me… I dont think I can get on board with it unfortunately… sorry!

What about [name_m]Lawson[/name_m]?
Lewelyn is amazing!! Lewelyn [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] (nn [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m])?

I’m a law student so it hits a little too close to home for me  I would worry about a child named [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] feeling pigeonholed into law or totally avoiding it because a lawyer named [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] would be… interesting lol. I do like [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] though!

I feel like it’s kinda the same as naming a kid doctor. It feels like you’re trying to push a career on then, even though you aren’t. I think a lot of the popular occupational names are careers that aren’t really much of a thing anymore, but maybe I’m wrong. Maybe as a middle name?

It feels too associated with the profession. Sorry. I like the suggestion of [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], or even [name_m]Larson[/name_m] with the nn [name_m]Lars[/name_m]! (Both could also be nn [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], which I think is really sweet!)

If [name_m]Judge[/name_m] is a name I don’t see why [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] can’t be. I actually sort of like [name_m]Law[/name_m]. And [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]. I’d never use one of these myself but I can see it in theory

Is Lewelyn like [name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]?

I think [name_m]Law[/name_m] would be cool on its own, but I’m really not a fan of [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m], sorry. I love the suggestion of [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], though, or maybe [name_m]Ledger[/name_m]? [name_m]Ledger[/name_m] has similar sounds and is very cool.

I don’t think so…lawyer is such a common job and not already familiar as a surname like other occupational names (like [name_u]Mason[/name_u] or [name_u]Baker[/name_u]). I think it’s like naming a child Plumber or Accountant. Plus a lot of people have negative ideas about lawyers.g

Lawyer is kind of cool. [name_m]Lawrie[/name_m] could be a nickname

Lawyer [name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_u]Beck[/name_u]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]

Not a fan, personally, but it works.

It doesn’t work in my opinion. It would be like calling a child Dentist or Electrician. I think somebody called [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] would get a lot of jokes about their name.

I would suggest [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], [name_m]Larson[/name_m] or [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u].

I like [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] (name I’ve picked for a third baby) and even [name_u]Leighton[/name_u]. But lawyer I just can’t get behind sorry. Especially if he grows up to be a teacher, plumber or pilot etc. He would probably find his name frustrating how do you feel about [name_m]Lloyd[/name_m]?

Definitely not working for me. I work in a law office and I would really recommend against it.

Lawrence/Lawson/Lawlor/Larson/Leighton would be preferable to [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] and won’t hold the same lofty expectations.

Many people view lawyers with an unpleasant connotation. Like you might not want to name your son Dentist, lol.

I think it’s a bit too associated with the profession. Most occupational names as firsts today are either for obsolete professions or are normalized last names. [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m] feels a bit too descriptive (and hard to live up to).

Lou-lyn

I am fond of some names like this ([name_m]Admiral[/name_m], for example), though I doubt I would choose it for an actual child.

But as a nn, many things go.

There are so many wonderful L names which would lend themselves to your pet name of [name_m]Lawyer[/name_m].

Law
[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Laudalino[/name_m]
[name_m]Lorn[/name_m]
[name_u]Lorne[/name_u]
[name_m]Lorenzen[/name_m]
[name_m]Lorenso[/name_m]
[name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Laurent[/name_m]
[name_u]Laramie[/name_u]
etc.

Too much occupational for my test

Agree that it’s top occupational. [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] is an alternative, though still not my style.
