Only very newly pregnant with our second and am already thinking names, we have a little girl named [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], lve always loved her name, I think it’s beautiful and love the meaning behind [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
I have always loved the name [name_m]Luka[/name_m] for a girl and just lately have found myself being drawn to [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], but am concerned as both names are unisex and so unlike [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] which l find very feminine. Part of me worries that she will be teased for having “a boys name”. What do you think when you see these names for a girl? Have you ment many girls bearing these names?
We have a set middle name [name_f]May[/name_f], honouring my grandmother, both l think work well with it.
[name_m]Luka[/name_m] is a boy’s name to me. However, I think [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] could be a good fit. You could still call her [name_u]Georgie[/name_u].
[name_m]Luka[/name_m] is a boy’s name so I wouldn’t use that for a girl, and not with sister [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. I love [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] too, and you could use it as is, but I also think [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] would be great, and she could usually be called [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]. For some reason [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] (or [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgette[/name_f]) appeals to me more than just [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] on its own. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] would make a great pair!
[name_m]Luka[/name_m] is a boy’s name to me and [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] is too cutesy for me. She’s only going to be a child for a small portion of her life so I think it’d be best to have a name that would suit her in all stages of life. If I had to choose I guess i’d pick [name_m]Luka[/name_m] but I think naming her [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] (or any other variants) with the nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] would be much better. Plus I think [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] make a nice sibset.
For the record I like [name_u]Luca[/name_u] for a girl. I’m forever chasing the nn [name_u]Lou[/name_u].
However [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] is super cute and waaaaayyyyy better with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] is pretty , elegant and will work into adulthood. [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] is wayyyy too cutesy.
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] would also be really pretty
I like [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] and [name_m]Luka[/name_m], but I agree that they may be a little mismatched next to more feminine [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. I love the suggestion of using [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and calling her [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]–she’d have a “girl” name like her sister, but you’d get to use the cute nickname you love so much. In the same way, [name_m]Luka[/name_m] could be short for [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], or really any [name_u]Lou[/name_u] name. Personally, with names like [name_m]Luka[/name_m] and [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], I’d suggest using a longer full name anyway. [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] especially reminds me of nickname-names like [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Kat[/name_f], which I don’t think are quite substantial enough for the birth certificate.
On the flip side, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is indeed feminine, but it’s also pretty cutesy like [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] when you think about it. If I met sisters named [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], for example, I wouldn’t bat an eye. If you did want to use [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] as a full name, it wouldn’t catch me off guard the way [name_m]Luka[/name_m] would. It’s not like their names would be too wildly different in length or style ([name_u]Jo[/name_u] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Bertha[/name_f], etc).
Your situation reminds me of some siblings I know: [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], and… [name_u]Gaby[/name_u]. Seems like a mismatch, right? Turns out [name_u]Gaby[/name_u] is actually a [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]. They can always go by [name_u]Julie[/name_u] or [name_u]Gaby[/name_u] or [name_u]Nat[/name_u], but they also have the option of being [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], and [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f].
I vote that [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]'s sister is a [name_f]Georgia[/name_f].
[name_u]Georgie[/name_u] is a great nickname option for some more feminine full names such as [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Georgette[/name_f], any of those would sound lovely with [name_f]Pheobe[/name_f] in my opinion.
Also, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is a gorgeous name. If this baby was a girl, her first name would most likely have been [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] too.
I doubt she would be teased for having a boys name, but [name_m]Luka[/name_m] is strictly a boys name in my books.
I think [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] is a lovely choice, or [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]!
[name_m]Luka[/name_m] is a boys name. I really don’t see it on a girl.
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] would be perfect with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
Aww, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is my favourite girl name! I adore [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] on a girl, but only as a nickname for [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], or [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] are so sweet together! [name_u]Luca[/name_u] I like, but only this spelling and only on a boy.
I consider [name_m]Luka[/name_m] to be a masculine name really.
I really like [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], but it is kind of cutesy. That doesn’t totally rule it out though, I think a more serious middle name would ground it, ie [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. But I see that the middle name is set, so my vote would go to something like [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]. Alternatively, adding in the serious middle name while keeping [name_f]May[/name_f], like [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f].
I really don’t like [name_m]Luka[/name_m] for a girl. I’m not fond of genderbending names in general, even less so when they come from another language where they are clearly gendered. I find it a bit disrespectful to the language/country of origin, if you will. I also don’t think it goes well with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], even they were boy and girl. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is really sweet and with a bit of a vintage charm to it, while [name_m]Luka[/name_m] sounds stronger, harsher and modern.
I love how [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] go together though, I think they make wonderful sisters. [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] is a bit too nickname-y for my taste, but it works just fine. I love the flow on [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] (swoon!) and on [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], if you choose [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] to be a nickname. It’s a clear winner for me!
I’ve heard of girls’ called [name_u]Luca[/name_u] so I think [name_m]Luka[/name_m] would be fine on a girl. I however would prefer [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u].
I think [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] works well enough though I personally prefer [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] with [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
I’m not opposed to [name_m]Luka[/name_m] on a girl as I know a few and it is a unisex name where I live, however, in English it does sound very masculine to me and I’d likely assume she was a boy.
My favorite of the options suggested would [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]. To me, those names seem equally cosmopolitan and elegant. I also think [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] would work well sound-wise, but [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] has a bit more of an “[name_f]Americana[/name_f]” vibe to me than does [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], simply because of the state name.
[name_m]Luka[/name_m]'s more masculine to me, especially against [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f] would be really cute, though I’d personally prefer [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] “[name_u]Georgie[/name_u]” [name_f]May[/name_f].
I know two Georgies (full names) and it suits them quite well. The older [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], my cousin (19), gets called [name_m]George[/name_m] 90% of the time.
[name_u]Georgie[/name_u] is too nicknamey for me. I love [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], though. You can always use a nickname of [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]. Having said that, I teach a 15 year old girl called [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]-[name_f]May[/name_f] and it’s nice on her.
I also teach a 14 year old girl called [name_u]Luca[/name_u] (this spelling) but it is an Italian boys name and in my opinion doesn’t match well to [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
Some other ideas I had:
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Justine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
