I like it! I never watched Disney’s 1973 animated [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood movie, but I do know that ot has a well-loved character named Maid [name]Marian[/name_f], and it sounds lovely. I also think it would give someone who did grow up with that movie a sort of nostalgic familiarity :slight_smile:

I like it. [name_u]An[/name_u] evocative old name that has been little used in recent decades but deserves attention. Redolent with history (ie Maid Marian), it also seems to me an intelligent, thoughtful, elegant name, with warm sounds. [name_u]French[/name_u] actor [name_u]Marion[/name_u] Cotillard is a lovely modern bearer. I like both spellings.

I really love it but prefer the [name_u]Marion[/name_u] spelling!

I think it’s pretty! It’s a simple name that would actually feel pretty refreshing nowadays. I think I like Marian and Marion about the same, but prefer Marian for the nickname Annie.

I adore it. I would have used it if it wasn’t my best friend’s name! She is a smart, thoughtful, beautiful, artistic, slightly old-fashioned but youthful person- just like her name.

While I can’t personally use the name due to a bad association, I love the name – especially with this spelling. I have to say that Disney’s [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood definitely made me rethink at the name. I would love to see it be used.

[name_u]Marian[/name_u] is so so sweet. I think it’s just lovable & friendly & kind of quiet & smart & pretty w/out being frilly. It’s fairly easy, fairly classic & not at all over done. All the good things.

I think [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is a very very pretty name. I think of [name_u]Marian[/name_u] the librarian from [name_f]Music[/name_f] [name_u]Man[/name_u], and I can’t think of any negative connotations. It would also be a very cute honor name for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Miriam[/name_f].
