WDYT of Nixon

Hey there!
Im curious what you guys think of the name [name]Nixon[/name]. Im sure plenty of you American berries cant stand it, but for those of you who aren’t American or aren’t bothered by the infamous connection id love to hear your thoughts.

Also can anyone come up with alternative spelling?? Not because i want it to be yoo-neek, more looking at alternative spelling to move away from the same spelling as the famous surname.

Thanks.

I am an American berry so I won’t say anything about the connections. I think it is a fine name but its just not my taste. What about spelling it:
Nickson
Nicson or
Nixen

American, so yeah. But I rather like [name]Nyx[/name] or [name]Nixie[/name] for a girl, which is a mythology thing more than a surname thing.

And I like [name]Nicholas[/name]/[name]Dominic[/name] as ways to [name]Nick[/name] for a boy but I’m guessing you want to avoid those.

I don’t like it, I’m Canadian.

All I get it nick which makes me think of the little cuts you get from shaving, or the cuts you make to remove the spokes in pineapple.

Nicksen?

I’m American too, and it’s still too tied to [name]Richard[/name] “Tricky [name]Dick[/name]” [name]Nixon[/name]. I don’t like it, even with out the bad president association.

Maybe Nickson?

Setting aside the American connection, the sound is alright. It reminds me of names like [name]Paxton[/name] and [name]Knox[/name]- surnames that are just now gaining popularity because of their trendy sounds. There’s a [name]Kenyan[/name] Olympic runner called [name]Nixon[/name] Chepseba. If the president didn’t exist, I could imagine parents considering [name]Nixon[/name].

That said, the president does exist, and no amount of ignoring that fact is going to make it go away. He is an absolutely horrible role model, with inspirational quotes like:
“I don’t think a woman should be in any government job whatever. I mean, I really don’t. The reason why I do is mainly because they are erratic. And emotional.”
“With regard to the bombing, You’re so goddamned concerned about civilians and I don’t give a damn. I don’t care.”
“When the President does it that means that it is not illegal.”
and, most famously, “I am not a crook.”

The surname is very, very, very attached to the infamous president. Perhaps you could get away with [name]Nixon[/name] in certain places- I really don’t know whether [name]Nixon[/name] is as well known overseas as [name]Thatcher[/name] or as obscure as [name]MacDonald[/name] in [name]America[/name]. I don’t know what kind of connections people would draw or if anyone would think of the president. But personally, I wouldn’t want the most famous bearer of my child’s name to be a crook.

i love the name. my little cousin is named Nickson [name]Kale[/name] and a lot of people love his name because it’s unique (to them , small town) honestly, if that wasn’t his name, i’d pick the name for my first son.

I’m American and I like the name. I think it’s strong and cute all at the same time. If you want a different spelling, I like Nixen. I think the X makes it extra masculine. Or maybe even Nixxon/Nixxen/Nixson/Nixsen/Nixzen/Nixzon. Some other spellings… Nicsen, Nicson, Niczon, Niczen Nikzon, Nikzen, Nikson, Niksen? I feel if you add a C and a K, like Nickson, Nicksen, Nickzon, or Nickzen, people will call him [name]Nick[/name]. But if that doesn’t bother you, then add the C and K.

Good luck!!

It’s a surname to me and I automatically think of [name]Richard[/name] [name]Nixon[/name].

I like [name]Nixon[/name]. It’s unique. I like presidential names though. I have friends with a [name]Reagan[/name] and friends with a [name]Lincoln[/name].

A math teacher of mine had the last name [name]Nixon[/name]. It was the first and only class I got a D in. So no for me, but I do love the name Ni, which can also come from [name]Phoenix[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name].

I like the sound of the name and the X is on trend. I do like the look of Nickson or Nikson though.

I do like the sound of it. I like Nikson best as an alternate spelling. Then he could go by [name]Nik[/name] if he wanted (which is nice as compared to [name]Nick[/name])
