What do you think of [name_u]Nova[/name_u]? Compared to [name_f]Ava[/name_f]?
I’m looking for names that feature a V and really like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. The first time I saw [name_u]Nova[/name_u] I thought it was strange since I have a physics/astro background and because I know a bit of Spanish… but it’s kind of been growing on me and the sound is similar to [name_f]Ava[/name_f] but it’s obviously less popular, likely more trendy though.
I like [name_u]Nova[/name_u]. I would pair it with something classic like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] Marjean is super cute too!
I think both are pretty, but I’m partial to [name_u]Nova[/name_u] because of your background. I think that’s really cool. I agree that pairing it with a classic is a good idea like [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I prefer [name_u]Nova[/name_u], even though I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] too, it’s just less expected and I love the space meaning. I think [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] are lovely!
Some other names I thought with a similar vibe are [name_f]Evanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Eva[/name_f]!
I don’t really like either, tbh, but I do prefer [name_f]Ava[/name_f], if I have to choose, because it has somewhat of a glamorous, Old Hollywood vibe. [name_u]Nova[/name_u] is too modern for my taste, and I just don’t love the sound, personally.
However, it’s great for you! I like the flow of [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], but [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a classic you can never go wrong with.
I prefer [name_f]Ava[/name_f] myself. I love astronomy but [name_u]Nova[/name_u]’s never felt very namey to me and I much prefer [name_f]Ava[/name_f] or [name_f]Norah[/name_f]. I wish I could love [name_u]Nova[/name_u] because of the astronomy thing, but it just doesn’t appeal, sorry. Other lovely names that have a “V” that remind me of [name_f]Ava[/name_f]:
I really like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] Marjean and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], even [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] seems a bit predictable but still nice. I think I like [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] or [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] best for [name_u]Nova[/name_u].
I like [name_u]Nova[/name_u] a lot. The only middles that flow well with it are [name_u]Nova[/name_u] Marjean and [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] has too many long o’s and looks choppy to me. [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is too wordy. [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] trips me up. But [name_u]Nova[/name_u] Marjean is divine! I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] Marjean too.
I quite like it! [name_f]My[/name_f] only associations with are Supernovas, which I think is an awesome connection, and the character from the Sharknado movies (which may or may not be a positive connection. I ironically love those movies though!). I think [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]Nova[/name_u] Marjean flow well!
Nova feels extremely trendy to me and I just don’t love the sound. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is maybe overdone but I still think it’s a sweet little name! [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is great.
Other v names you might like:
Veda
[name_f]Vita[/name_f]
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] (love this as a nn for [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f])
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
Its interesting to hear what other people think of Nova since I don’t think I’ve seen it brought up in the forums much. Thanks for everyones perspectives!
I much prefer [name_u]Nova[/name_u] in terms of sound and association. I love the vibe it gives off. But [name_u]Nova[/name_u] for me is too popular, definitely not as popular as [name_f]Ava[/name_f] which is #3 in the US but [name_u]Nova[/name_u] is #51 in the US and I wouldn’t be surprised if it kept rising. I loved the suggestion of [name_u]Nova[/name_u] Marjean though! Very glamorous and old Hollywood
Nova, it’s so unique and I love how it’s Latin for new, which has survived into the modern Romance languages (Pt: nova, Es: nueva, It: nuova). It gives it a certain pedigree, it feels truly timeless.
Nova [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is cool and classic.
[name_u]Nova[/name_u] Marjean is interesting.
