Is it too tied to the [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_m]Cleary[/name_m] novels? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the middle syllable being “moan” is a deterrent?
I’ve never read any [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_m]Cleary[/name_m] books and it has no connotations for me but I personally don’t really like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], it’s not terrible but I think [name_u]Roma[/name_u] is much nicer.
I think it’s cool.
It reminds me of the bob [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] song of the same name. And The Ramones
I think it’s a pretty name, known and yet not trendy. I don’t know the [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_m]Cleary[/name_m] books, must be a US thing.
Never heard of the novels, never made the ‘moan’ connection until you said anything. That said, maybe kids would? Idk. I think of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] Flowers from the [name_m]Scott[/name_m] Pilgrim movie, which I freaking love. Also makes me think of The Ramones. I love it.
I don’t think the connection to the [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_m]Cleary[/name_m] novels is debilitating, but as a 90’s kid it’s definitely my prime connection to the name [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].
It’s a positive connotation anyway for anyone familiar with the books, as they are beloved children’s literature. So I think you should give the name a chance.
It definitely makes me immediately think of the [name_f]Beverley[/name_f] [name_m]Cleary[/name_m] character, but seeing as I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] that [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] its totaly not a bad thing, actually its a plus. I think I like the name for that reason. The sound is not actually that appealling to me and I really dislike nn [name_f]Mona[/name_f] moan - uh. dont like the moan. But because I love the character, I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is super cute!
The only reason I like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] as a name is because of the books, and I think that it will create a very positive association for other kids her age. If anything, should they read the books, they’d probably be envious of her name (I’d be).
As an adult, the associaton to a (beloved) children’s book character can keep the name from coming off as dated.
As for the sound, the “moan” isn’t as audible in my English accent, however, even if it were, I don’t think it’s too bad.
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] has really grown on me over the years. To me, the books are a positive association!
I absolutely love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]! I think it’s such a feisty, sassy, rock-chick sort of a name, while still being pretty and feminine.
The books are an obvious association, but a good one [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. The “moan” thing doesn’t bother me at all. All in all a really great name!
I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is beautiful and totally usable!
I’m reading [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]'s stories to my seven year old daughter right now; I grew up with them and introducing her world to my kid is so, so fun. Although [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is the character in children’s literature that I always most related to, my first born totally connected with Beezus, which is so funny to me!
Anyway, it’s a wonderful name. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] or [name_u]Romy[/name_u] are cute nicknames. I would [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] to meet a little [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]!
I love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and think the connection with the books is a plus! [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is a gorgeous nickname too. I also like [name_f]Mona[/name_f] as a nickname so obviously I don’t worry about the ‘moan’ sound.
I love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m] is a wonderful, badass and spunky character that only brings me good thoughts and plenty of childhood memories. I know that I would love to be a [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] myself!
Cute, sweet and spunky! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the books and because of that love the name.
I adore [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]! I love the books as well, but I think the name stands in her own.
Its such a spunky, fun name! I love it! My first association is The Ramones.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], it has so much character and warmth. The association to the books is definitely a plus for me!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and love the books!
@tfzolghadr I’m still a minor and I grew up on [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] [name_m]Cleary[/name_m]
