We are narrowing down names and have decided on [name_m]Remus[/name_m], nickname [name_u]Remi[/name_u], as a top contender for a boy name. We are team green, so coming up with names for both genders. The problem is that it seems any family we told hate it and friends love it! Is this name too out there or is our family being unreasonable? Thanks so much. Only 10 more weeks to go!
Full name would be [name_m]Remus[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], called [name_u]Remi[/name_u] ([name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is an honor name)
The thing about family, is that they tend to come around when the baby is in their hands. Especially when they are finally running around and showing some personality, all qualms about the names usually fade away.
I say, if you love it and you feel it’s the right name then even naysayers will fade into the background when that precious baby boy is in your arms.
Also, [name_m]Remus[/name_m] is a wonderful name. I love the nn [name_u]Remi[/name_u] too. It’s lovely.
I love [name_m]Remus[/name_m]! I think the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] franchise really helped with that though :). [name_m]Remus[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is very handsome and I think [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] pairs rather well with it.
I used to have it in my signature, I love the sound and look of [name_m]Remus[/name_m] nn [name_u]Remi[/name_u]-- it’s strong but very cute! My personal downfall for the name is that [name_m]Remus[/name_m] was killed by [name_m]Romulus[/name_m], which makes the name feel more unfortunate for me-- if that doesn’t bother you, I would say go for it! I don’t think it’s too out there at all. Congratulations by the way!

I love it, and it was on my list for a while. it only dropped off because I found another name I liked more and happens to be a family name, where [name_m]Remus[/name_m] is not. [name_u]Remi[/name_u] is a cute nn and I do think people will come around if you decide to use it.
I really like [name_m]Remus[/name_m], very much boosted by the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] connection. I love how unusual it is, and as previous posters have said, I’m sure your family will come around to it when there’s actually a baby [name_m]Remus[/name_m] they can hold.
No matter what your family says, it’s your baby so you should use the name you like best!
I personally love [name_m]Remus[/name_m], it’s a name with rich history, a fun and spunky nickname (though I prefer the [name_u]Remy[/name_u] spelling) and of course there’s the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] association that any kid would love
Makes me think of [name_m]Remus[/name_m] Lupin of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] - a great character but the name feels very stuffy to me. Remix is nice, though!
All I think of when I hear [name_m]Remus[/name_m] is [name_m]Remus[/name_m] and [name_m]Romulus[/name_m], and I get an immediate image of those two cherubs sucking on the wolf teat since it’s a very common image in museums and such. That association would be way too strong for me personally. Consider [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] or [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]?
