[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries,
Recently I’ve been thinking of the name [name_u]Salem[/name_u] (pronounced [name_m]SAY[/name_m]-lem) quite a bit. What are your thoughts on the name?
All I can think of is the cat from [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] the Teenage Witch. Because of that and the [name_u]Salem[/name_u] witch trials connection I prefer it for a pet.
I agree with ikfly, all I can see is the cat in [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f].
I love [name_u]Salem[/name_u]. I think it’s really cute!

I agree about the [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] connection, and I definitely understand that. That’s what used to stop me from the liking the name, however this time round, I’m seeing it in new light.
The [name_u]Salem[/name_u] Witch Trials isn’t a strong connection for me either, as I live in Australia, so it’s not as widely known about as I assume it would be in the US.
I too automatically think of witches, both historically and fictionally. However, for me, that’s not necessarily a bad thing (obviously the witch trials of the 17th century were terrible, but I appreciate that supernatural/witchcraft history).
I quite like [name_u]Salem[/name_u], on either a boy or a girl. I guess it would have stronger associations with the witch murders in [name_u]America[/name_u], but in Australia, yeah, more likely to have the [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]/world domination association than anything.

I really like the name [name_u]Salem[/name_u], especially on girls. It does have a very autumn / Halloween feel, but that is part of the charm. The [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] connection wouldn’t be shared with his / her classmates anyway.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! I wish it didn’t have all those associations though, it has a such a nice ring to it.
