WDYT of [name]Sybella[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you see it as a bastardized, tryndee version of [name]Isabella[/name]? Or a legitimate name? Would a [name]Sybella[/name] go through life saying ‘no, not [name]Isabella[/name]’…?
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Sybilla[/name] but I know I won’t get it past my husband. He likes [name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Serena[/name] so I think I have a chance with [name]Sybella[/name]. I think the nn Sybbie is adorable!
I much prefer [name]Sybilla[/name]/[name]Sibylla[/name]; [name]Sybella[/name] seems a bit “off” at first glance, but [name]Sybella[/name] is also beautiful and powerful-sounding in her own right.
[name]Sybella[/name] is the name of a character in a book I’m reading. At first I wasn’t too sure about it (probably because I’d never heard of it before), but it’s actually sort of grown on me. I think it’s an interesting and rather unique sounding name. If you like it, go for it!
What middle name were you thinking of pairing it with?
Thank you for the feedback! I’m so happy that it was positive
I love [name]Sybilla[/name] but I think [name]Sybella[/name] is more of a realistic compromise name for us! We’re not TTC yet so middle names, and actual names, are all a bit hypothetical! [name]Sybella[/name] [name]Mary[/name], [name]Sybella[/name] [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Sybella[/name] [name]Eve[/name] all have family significance!
My friend’s mum is called [name]Sybella[/name] and I think it’s a beautiful name. She does have problems with it being so unusual and it’s often mistaken for [name]Isabella[/name], but that’s nothing a little correcting doesn’t fix.
[name]Sybella[/name] is lovely. If I were to pick, I will go with [name]Sybil[/name] but [name]Sybella[/name] is beautiful too, unusual but familiar in one.
I hate to go against the grain here, but I don’t care for it. I haven’t heard it before so it does sound like a hybrid, “made-up” name to me. Also, the sound of it makes me think of Rubella, the virus that causes measles.
I love [name]Sybella[/name]! [name]Sybilla[/name] is ok, but I just can’t get past the “bill” sound–[name]Sybella[/name] is much more elegant, [name]IMO[/name]. The only downside is the multitude of little Isabellas and Bellas running around. [name]Sybil[/name] and Sybbie are better nickname options.
I think it might get confused with [name]Isabella[/name] but I’m not sure how often this would really happen. I think of it as a legitimate name. I saw it once on an old gravestone in a mid to late 19th century cemetery and thought it was a very pretty name.
I like it, just not as much as [name]Sybil[/name]. I know it’s a legitimate name, so I don’t see it as a bastardization of [name]Isabella[/name], but people might be confused at first.
I think that if you love it and your husband agrees, than use it. [name]Sibby[/name] is a cute nickname.
