No, sorry. Why would you name your kid after a bag?
People name there kids [name]Jet[/name], [name]Cash[/name], [name]Jagger[/name], [name]Allegra[/name], [name]Briar[/name], etc. What’s the difference with this name?
[name]Jet[/name] is a type of stone, [name]Briar[/name] is a nature name, [name]Cash[/name] can be short for [name]Cashel[/name] or [name]Cassius[/name], [name]Jagger[/name] is a surname, [name]Allegra[/name] is… not a thing, it’s just a name so I don’t get that one…
A satchel is a bag.
I actually am rather fond of [name]Satchel[/name]. It reminds me of [name]Satchel[/name] [name]Paige[/name] who was a prominent figure in baseball history.
[name]Satchel[/name] WAS the name of [name]Woody[/name] [name]Allen[/name] and [name]Mia[/name] Farrow’s sole biological child. He was named after baseball player [name]Satchel[/name] [name]Paige[/name]. I said “WAS” because as soon as he was old enough he changed it. He goes by [name]Ronan[/name] Farrow now. I think that kind of says it all. [name]Satchel[/name] is one word that doesn’t translate well for a child’s name. Children use to carry their schoolbooks in satchels. Would you name a daughter, Purse or Bag?
Thank you for your opinions!
[name]Phil[/name]: The man purse. You’re actually gonna wear that or are you guys just messin’ with me?
[name]Alan[/name]: It’s where I keep all my things. I get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it’s not a man purse, it’s called a satchel. [name]Indiana[/name] [name]Jones[/name] wears one.
Not a name… not a name at all.
haha lawl…
It sounds like a teddy bear name to me… I mean, I can see it, but the fact that it’s a bag is just kind of a strange name for a child. There’s plenty of similar names out there that don’t have such an off, even boring meaning.
Ahaha, exactly what I was thinking.
Give me some other names that have that old feel and sound to it. I love [name]Thatcher[/name], [name]Fletcher[/name], [name]Herschel[/name], and etc.
I want to like it! I babysat for a kid named Chapel when I was in high school, and I wanted to love that name too.
[name]Dashiell[/name] would be an alternative.
Or [name]Vachel[/name].
No x10,0000
It’s an awesome name.
[name]Satchel[/name] is not a term used much in the US. I mean really, when was the last time you heard someone say “satchel” in day-to-day conversation? People just say bag. I’m guessing the people who are thinking it’s a unusable are either not American, know nothing about baseball, or know nothing about [name]Black[/name] history. I’d wager that the average American would instantly think of [name]Satchel[/name] [name]Paige[/name], not a purse.
It doesn’t say anything about [name]Satchel[/name]. He dropped the name not because he had a problem with [name]Satchel[/name] but because he had a problem with the person who chose it. Whether his dad had named him [name]John[/name] or [name]Amadeus[/name] or [name]Beverley[/name], he would have dropped it because he wanted nothing to do with [name]Woody[/name].
A satchel is a bag. It’s cool as a nickname, and [name]Indiana[/name] [name]Jones[/name] can rock a satchel. I’m just not fond of it as a given name.
Perhaps Sacha? They both sound kind of the same if you hold your tongue, haha.
And I’m American… and instantly thought of a bag…
I know my bags.
Hehe.
Ah yes, or:
Avner
Archer
Bridger
Bower
Booker
Chandler
Foster
Fielder
Lochlainn
Painter
Ranger
Reiner
Topher
Xavier
I’m American and I definitely think purse. I love [name]Thatcher[/name] and [name]Fletcher[/name].
I instantly think of the bag or a certain insult that begins with satchel and ends in a not so acceptable word for your derriere.
[name]Satchel[/name] has a nice sound that is definitely appealing, but the name isn’t. [name]Dashiell[/name] as suggested above is a lovely alternative.
