WDYT of the name Lavelle?

Found a new name today…[name_f]Lavelle[/name_f]. It would work perfectly for me as an honor name. But concerned that it may be too dated and out there. What are your opinions? I have never seen this name before so I’m unsure about it myself.

It does sound strangely dated. I don’t think it’s ever been popular, but it seems like something that would’ve been a hit in the 40’s. It combines a popular prefix and suffix to makes a name that’s more familiar than common. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] could be nice nicknames that would update it a bit.

I dont like it, sounds dated and like saying “Level”
I would go for something like [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] instead

It sounds a lot like Laval, a city in [name_m]Quebec[/name_m] that- as far as I know, not that I’ve been there- isn’t really a place you’d name your child after (nothing wrong with it, but not all that exciting), so I can’t really see it as a name, sorry.

It sounds really dated to me I’m afraid, who knows, maybe it’ll make a comeback in future, but now it sounds dated. But if you like it that’s all that matters!

Reminds me of the Lavell Edwards Stadium at BYU. If it didn’t have that connotation for me (and it really won’t for hardly anyone), I do sort of like it in a charming, offbeat way–although I think it would do best as a middle name.

It kind of sounds like a feminine hygiene product to me, I’m sorry.

I’ve only heard it on men, but with the Lavell spelling.

My grandmother’s middle name was [name_f]Lavelle[/name_f], and I always thought it was lovely. It sounds good in the middle name spot I think. It rolls off the tongue with a lot of first names (such as names ending in A) making the combos sound gorgeous :).
