My friend is TTC baby number 3. Her girls are 18 and 14 now and are named Chel. see and Lau. ren. (without the dots and spaces!) I find the name really old fashioned but not in a good way. I’m trying to convince her to use it as a middle name but what names would go with her other girls?
I am not a fan. [name]Shirley[/name], [name]Sherry[/name] & [name]Sheryl[/name] all have a shrill sound to my ear. I actually like quite a few names that most people consider ‘dated’ like [name]Rita[/name], [name]Jean[/name], [name]Karen[/name] & [name]Nancy[/name]…so it’s not about the fact that I know a lot of 50 year old Shirleys for me…it’s about the sound.
[name]Just[/name] watch some [name]Shirley[/name] [name]Temple[/name] movies & you’ll get a good image of the name [name]Shirley[/name]. Though that’s likely why the only [name]Shirley[/name] I’ve ever come across is old enough to by my grandma. But she can kick butt still! LOL
[name]Chelsee[/name], [name]Lauren[/name], and [name]Shirley[/name] will be great together. My advice, use it. It’ll be okay. [name]Shirley[/name] maybe old fashioned, but it’s so pretty.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Charlotte[/name] instead of [name]Shirley[/name]?
I do think it’s kind of old fashioned, but like one of the other posters said, watch some [name]Shirley[/name] [name]Temple[/name] and it’ll win you over
I actually like [name]Shirley[/name], and it’s not only a reference to [name]Shirley[/name] [name]Temple[/name], but in the anime Code Geass, one of the girl’s names was [name]Shirley[/name].
I love the name [name]Shirley[/name]! I think it deserves a comeback, maybe as a replacement for [name]Shelby[/name].
I think it has the potential to be bubbly and super cute! But, people in her life need to be supportive of her choice or it will always seem dowdy and out of fashion.
