Call me crazy, but I’m liking Wrangler. I’m even liking Wrangler and [name]William[/name].
I’m not expecting you to get much support, however, so I’ll suggest some others: [name]Durango[/name], [name]Colorado[/name], [name]Laramie[/name], [name]Houston[/name], [name]Stetson[/name] and [name]Ryder[/name]. [name]Madigan[/name], [name]Autry[/name], [name]Destry[/name] and [name]Zane[/name].
I think Wrangler could possibly be a cute nickname for [name]William[/name]. I also don’t think Wrangler would be bad as a given name, although I don’t think I’d use it. Also, I don’t know how seriously you were thinking about using both Wrangler and [name]William[/name], but I feel like [name]William[/name] and Wrangler would be unbalanced for a siblings and especially for twins, because [name]William[/name] is a popular classic and Wrangler is modern and uncommon.
Wrangler for me is associated only with the jeans while [name]Levi[/name] has a lot of other associations since it’s an old Biblical name. I think I’d have a hard time getting used to the idea of Wrangler as a name for a baby. It is a cute nickname though.
Hmmm, I have to say I am really not liking Wrangler- especially not with a brother [name]William[/name] (which is so handsome and classic!) It just really reminds me of a strangler…lots of potential for teasing I would think. So sorry! But I do love the name [name]William[/name] and would use it in a heartbeat if it weren’t so popular!
[name]Hi[/name]! Please take my humble opinion with a pinch of salt as I am from South [name]Africa[/name] so not truly familiar with southern US culture at all, apart from Tv/movies etc, so almost dont feel ‘qualified’ to comment. I do see your view of Wrangler as a ‘cowboy, etc’ name and quite like the idea of it in that sense, esp. if it means something to you. However, I do agree, it could become trendy and [name]William[/name] and Wrangler are just too different stylistically to me. Also apart from the clothing brand, the rhyming word ‘strangler’ did pop into my head unfortuately!
I did like some other suggestions with the same feel like
[name]Houston[/name]
[name]Drew[/name]
[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Blake[/name]
[name]Westin[/name]
[name]Colorado[/name]
[name]Wayne[/name]
[name]Todd[/name]
[name]Hunter[/name]
[name]Maverick[/name]
[name]Tennessee[/name]
[name]Cooper[/name]
[name]Jed[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Clayton[/name]
[name]Wilder[/name]
[name]Carson[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]
All the best!
I don’t know if this has already been pointed out or not, but I personally think it sounds a lot like ‘strangler’.
Living in Northern [name]England[/name], I’m not a huge fan of ‘cowboy/western’ style names, and don’t know a huge amount about them. I do, however, think that [name]William[/name] and Wrangler would make an adorable sibset!
I’m loving it! I love the cowboy feel of it. I would totally use it if I was having a boy. I dont like [name]Levi[/name] at all but I do love most cowboys/county names. Use it! It will be so adorable!!
I like Wrangler [name]William[/name] or Wrangler [name]Wyatt[/name]!! Too cute.
Thanks everyone for the feedback! Definitely a mixed crowd here, but I am glad to have all responses. Also, to clear up a few things. We won’t try to pick any other classic names, so our other children won’t really match [name]William[/name] in style. I’m just not into names that are that common. I borderline hate the name [name]William[/name], but will use it out of respect for DH and his family tradition. We will not Actually call the child [name]William[/name] though, and he will go by a nn instead. DH doesn’t even go by [name]William[/name], he goes by his nn for the most part. In fact, most people don’t even know his real name (not even his cousins) lol. So even though I hate the name [name]William[/name], there’s comfort in knowing he will not go through life being called that.
So [name]William[/name] and his brothers would really look something like this…
[name]Wiley[/name] and Wrangler (my fav option)(nn [name]Ray[/name])
[name]Liam[/name] and Wrangler (nn [name]Ray[/name])
[name]Lee[/name] and Wrangler (nn [name]Ray[/name])
[name]Wim[/name] and Wrangler (nn [name]Ray[/name])
Quart and Wrangler (nn [name]Ray[/name])
But our favorite non-popular name for our 2nd son is [name]Tennessee[/name]. This will more than likely be the name we choose because it is special to us. We have loved it for a long time. Yes, I realize that it could be linked to [name]Tennessee[/name] [name]Williams[/name], but once again our [name]William[/name] won’t go by [name]William[/name] (I refuse to let that happen).
[name]Wiley[/name] and [name]Tennessee[/name] (nn Ten, Tenner, or See)
[name]Liam[/name] and [name]Tennessee[/name] (nn Ten, Tenner, or See)
[name]Lee[/name] and [name]Tennessee[/name] (nn Ten, Tenner, or See)
[name]Wim[/name] and [name]Tennessee[/name] (nn Ten, Tenner, or See)
Quart and [name]Tennessee[/name] (nn Ten, Tenner, or See)
[name]Martina[/name], I REALLY love [name]Tennessee[/name] and the sound of [name]Wiley[/name] and/or [name]Liam[/name] with it. They all do collectively give off a definite southern/western, cowboy/country feel to me all the way over here! [name]Tennessee[/name] is much better than Wrangler! Imho, I can see the appeal, but rather keep it as a guilty pleasure perhaps?
[name]Tennessee[/name] is cool! But I’ve always wondered about nns… I like [name]Tenn[/name] better than Ten. I know – very small point.
I like your pairings. Sounds to me you know what you want.
I’m sorry, but I really, really don’t like it. Not one bit. First of all, it sounds like “strangler” and it’s just an awkward name to say. There are plenty of names with a similar feel to Wrangler… you could choose something like [name]Walker[/name] or [name]Palmer[/name] with the same effect.
Really love [name]Tennessee[/name] — do NOT love Wrangler!! Would definitely put Wrangler at middle name status at best… not first name material at all.
[name]Tennessee[/name] is awesome, and I hope you use it. =)
I don’t think this has been mentioned yet- but it’s all Jeep to me. I thought of the jeans second. That’s two major brands…
I already posted about Wrangler, but I just wanted to tell you that I really love [name]Tennessee[/name]. [name]Tenn[/name], [name]Tenny[/name], Tens. Very cool
