Not expecting or planning to but genuinely curious about what people think of these names.
Thelma
[name_f]Irma[/name_f]
They are family names for me and I find them very interesting but for some reason I’ve never met anyone in my life with these names. Not even the last people in my family that carried them, and no ones used them for the past 30 years.
They definitely feel a little clunky to me, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I think they’re both useable and would fit in with other popular girl names, sound wise, but still stand out.
I was thinking they’re a bit dusty too and they feel very early 1900s (not a bad thing either) and was wondering if they’d be a weird pick but I’m glad they’re not too bad.
I’m pretty neutral on [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], although I do think of it as old-fashioned. [name_f]Irma[/name_f], however, is still too connected for me to a certain hurricane that happened a few years ago, it also showed me that most hispanic people (specifically my grandma lol) don’t really know how to pronounce it.
Irma sadly reminds me of the hurricane, but that association mightn’t exist in Mexico.
[name_f]Thelma[/name_f] is nice, but I prefer [name_f]Velma[/name_f] even with the Scooby-Doo associations.
They’re both old fashioned names that I can’t see getting revived any time soon, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. A young girl with the name will definitely be the only one in her class.
