[name]Agnes[/name] - love it! It’s by far my favorite vintage name out there. [name]Way[/name] too vintage for most people, but I love it. I especially love the French prn. (ahn-YESS), and the option of [name]Annie[/name] for a nn (I honestly don’t see the appeal in [name]Aggie[/name]–it just reminds me of the term “old hag”!). I am also madly in love with the idea of [name]Agnes[/name] and [name]Edith[/name] as sisters–I think that would be beyond adorable!
[name]Avis[/name] - meh, it’s okay, but it doesn’t wow me. It sort of comes across (to me, at least) as if you liked [name]Ava[/name] but hated the popularity, so you came up with this instead. I find [name]Ava[/name] (and some of the longer variants, like [name]Aveline[/name], Avelaine, Avelina, and [name]Aviana[/name]) so much more beautiful, personally.
[name]Edith[/name] - pretty much the only -ith name I love! I didn’t appreciate it when I first came across it, but I truly adore it now, and I think [name]Edie[/name] is adorable. Again, how cute is [name]Agnes[/name] and [name]Edith[/name]?! :]
[name]Helen[/name] - meh, I always want to add the “A” on the end! I think [name]Helena[/name] is gorgeous and so charming (especially with the mythology and [name]Shakespeare[/name] connections!), and I love the spunky-and-oh-so-charmingly-Greek [name]Eleni[/name], but the simple [name]Helen[/name] doesn’t really appeal to me. It still feels old-lady to me. Hopefully I can come around, because I love the [name]Helen[/name] name family!
[name]Leona[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Leona[/name], and I have no problem with [name]Leo[/name] as a nn (although I struggle to imagine a little girl with the name! It seems so rugged and boyish to me). I’m not a fan of unisex/boys’ names on girls at all, but I suppose I have a little thing for boyish nicknames on girls. Sometimes.
I absolutely adore the nn [name]Leni[/name] for [name]Eleni[/name], which is on my own list, and I can appreciate [name]Charlotte[/name] with the nn [name]Charlie[/name] (alternatively, I quite hate the nn [name]Rory[/name] for [name]Aurora[/name]…). But I can dig [name]Leona[/name] nn [name]Leo[/name].
I’m sure if I met a cute little [name]Leona[/name] (or whatever) with the nn [name]Leo[/name], I’d love it.
[name]Lilith[/name] - I can’t quite get past the negative connotations, but that’s all that holds me back. I think it’s soft and intriguing and I love pretty much every other [name]Lily[/name] name.
[name]Mabel[/name] - and I’m one of those that pretty much hates it.
I can appreciate [name]Mae[/name]. And [name]Belle[/name]. But I can’t see the appeal in [name]Mabel[/name] at all.
[name]Tallulah[/name] - I love [name]Tallulah[/name]! Such a fun name, imo. I love the nns [name]Tallie[/name] and [name]Lulu[/name] (I can leave [name]Lula[/name], though. :)). It might be a more serious consideration for me if my little sister wasn’t [name]Natalie[/name] nn [name]Tallie[/name]–it doesn’t really seem like a viable option as it’s so close to her own name. I even call her [name]Tallulah[/name] on occasion. But I would love to meet a little [name]Tallulah[/name], it’s so fun.
[name]Zelda[/name] - for the longest time, I couldn’t get past the video game, but I’ve really come to love [name]Zelda[/name]! I think I prefer it as a MN (I actually love the idea of [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Zelda[/name]!), but I do love the idea of meeting a little [name]Zelda[/name], it’s quite a fun name.
[name]Agnes[/name], [name]Edith[/name], [name]Tallulah[/name], and [name]Zelda[/name] are my favorites!
