Avangeline? I love the name [name]Ava[/name] but I am looking into alternatives to avoid popularity. With Avangeline, [name]Ava[/name] could be the NN. [name]Will[/name] it always be misspelled as [name]Evangeline[/name]? Any opinions?
I’ve never heard of Avangeline which doesnt mean much but I think it looks like and might possibly be a creatively spelled version of [name]Evangeline[/name]. I think you would have issues with spelling, etc…
I’d stick to [name]Evangeline[/name], where you can still have the nickname [name]Eva[/name], pronounced (ay-vuh).
i think evangeline is beautiful, with an A it looks as thought its misspelled. plus evangeline has so many nicknames to choose from, if you didn’t want something so popular.
[name]Evangeline[/name] is lovely. Avangeline looks made up, sorry. If you would call the child [name]Ava[/name] anyway, then just name her [name]Ava[/name]. As the pp said, you could use the nickname [name]Eva[/name] with [name]Evangeline[/name].
not a fan…ava is pretty though
[name]How[/name] about [name]Aveline[/name], Avelina, or [name]Avalon[/name]?
Thanks everyone, the majority of my names are very long and if I would have an [name]Ava[/name] I wonder if she would feel left out because her name is so small. Two of my great grandmothers were [name]Eve[/name]/[name]Eva[/name] respectively so maybe [name]Evangeline[/name] with a nn [name]Eva[/name] (prn [name]Ava[/name]) would be the better choice, I am still not sure though. Thank you all for the other variations as well but they just don’t strike me the same way that [name]Ava[/name] and Avangeline/[name]Evangeline[/name] do.
I agree with this, sorry. A former friend of mine had seriously considered Avangeline nn [name]Ava[/name] and I hated it so much. It just drips with trendiness to me and changing the “E” to an “A” just seems to take all the class out of the name to me. I think you could easily use [name]Evangeline[/name] and use the nn [name]Ava[/name]. It’s not like you’re saying [name]Evangeline[/name] any differently, right? Or just use [name]Ava[/name]. It might be popular but popularity isn’t the worst thing in the world.
[name]Evangeline[/name] is a lovely name with a lovely spelling… Avangeline just looks bad and like someone didn’t know how to spell the name properly in my opinion.
I think you are over thinking things, I cant imagine someone feeling left out just because their name was shorter, imo a name is about substance no matter how short or long and as long as you give your kids nice respectable names I dont see a problem. If this is a big fear for you then why not go with [name]Evangeline[/name] or another [name]Ava[/name] name?
No I am not saying it any differently I just wanted [name]Ava[/name] to be the obvious NN over [name]Eva[/name] but it would not really be a bad thing. I just cannot decide! What does everyone prefer [name]Ava[/name] or [name]Evangeline[/name]?
I probably am LOL. I guess I feared that she would feel left out because her name is short and does not come with any real NNs but it would not really be awful. [name]Ava[/name] is very easy to wear and maybe she would be thankful for that
Sounds odd. much prefer [name]Avalyn[/name].
[name]Don[/name]'t Worry about having to spell out the name!! I have to spell out my daughter ([name]Hollie[/name]-[name]Marie[/name])'s name all the time, she loves to be different! Infact, I would even say its better to avoid popularity with different spellings. Avangeline is a gorgeous name! Avangelina really cuts it and Im even considering calling my second child it! good luck !
I prefer [name]Evangeline[/name] to [name]Ava[/name].
Avangeline will always be misspelleed as [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]IMO[/name]. I think if you could get away with [name]Evangeline[/name] nn [name]Ava[/name].
Avangeline makes me think of the Avengers for some reason.
A girl in my school was named Avangelina- she very rarely had to spell her name: and she quite liked having her name spelt different! Go for it!
