Wdyt of this?

So baby 3 on the way and struggling to find another girl name. I have loved [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] (for a girl) for the a long time but I also love wyn/wen ending names so in an attempt to feminise [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] (I know there are established feminine versions of [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] but they’re a little clunky/ don’t work with the middle name we’re thinking) and combine my two loves I came up with Etiennwen.

So my questions are:

  1. Does this seem wearable?
  2. Would you smoosh the names like the above or double barrell? So something like Etienne-Wynne

Thanks for your help!

I think it’s a bit much as the consonant clusters will be difficult even for native [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers so I would say not wearable IMO.

Etienne-Wynne is also a mouthful, especially if you’re adding a middle as well.

How do you feel about [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and or Etta-Wynn or Ethel-Wynne? I would suggest [name_f]Etain[/name_f] but its connotations aren’t the best…

[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] would be my pick. It is not popular and has both sounds you like. Hopefully this helps!

It’s interesting! In general I prefer [name_m]Etienne[/name_m], but for a girl I’d definitely opt for Etiennwen out of the two. Not 100% sure if I’d describe it as wearable - would you consider using a nickname with it?

I don’t mind the sound of Etiennwen, but it’s not awfully visually appealing to me (not sure if that’s something that would bother you). I feel Etienwen looks more namey/wearable? Something to consider. I prefer the smoosh of Etiennwen/Etienwen over the double barreled Etienne-Wynne; it’s a bit much.

I like the previous suggestion if Etta-Wynne, it feels like a good compromise. Some other ideas:
[name_f]Etta[/name_f]
Etaina
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f]
Etenia
[name_f]Etoile[/name_f]
[name_f]Ettie[/name_f] / Ettee
[name_f]Eirwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Eowyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f]
[name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] / [name_u]Wynn[/name_u]?

Thanks for your suggestions, [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is my favourite girls name unfortunately hubby didn’t like it and now I have a daughter with the [name_f]El[/name_f] beginning so it’s unusable for me so unfortunate!!

Thanks for your thoughts! I love a lot of the names you have suggested [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Eirwen[/name_f] particularly but I do worry about the LoTR connection and hubby doesn’t like them. He does like [name_f]Arianwen[/name_f] however but we know someone with that name so it feels tied to her. I definitely think she’d go by a nickname 98% of the time which I thought would be [name_f]Etta[/name_f] so maybe just [name_f]Etta[/name_f] would be ok the A ending doesn’t work super well with the middle name were considering however…

I like Etiennwen more than Etienne-Wynne, but both are a bit awkward and clunky to say for me. I’d also be a bit confused about pronunciation since [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] has emphasis on the last syllable, but I wouldn’t know how to say Etiennwen (since the ending isn’t French). To be honest, while I don’t love the idea of [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] on a girl unless you are [name_u]French[/name_u], I do like it more than Etiennwen!
