WDYT of Wilson? And a questions about a sib-set...

Hello there! [name]Just[/name] a couple questions that I would like your input on…

  1. What do you think of the name [name]Wilson[/name]? Is it too much of a surname?
  2. What would you think of siblings [name]Griffin[/name] (boy), Elowen (girl), and [name]Wilson[/name] (boy)? I know they all have the same ending - is that too matchy? [name]Do[/name] the names fit together as far as style?
  3. If there was a 4th child, would we then have to keep the pattern of names ending in n?

Thank you for any help you can give me!

I like [name]Wilson[/name], especially with the possible nn Wils. I think it sounds fine in that sibset. It’s definitely a surname name, but I don’t think its too ‘out there’. It’s easy to say and spell, which I think makes it usable as a first name.

The ‘ending with n’ theme is fairly subtle. I don’t think a lot of people would even notice. I don’t think it would be a big deal to have a 4th child whose name doesn’t end with ‘n’.

I like [name]Wilson[/name], although I like [name]Griffin[/name] better. I do notice the ending in -n theme with this sibset. It might bother me a little bit for all three to end in -n but it would be ok. Somehow with both [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Wilson[/name], it makes Elowen sound a little masculine, but that may just be me.

Thank you for the replies - very helpful!
Gwensmom, interesting thought that Elowen looks a little masculine when paired with [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Wilson[/name]. Hmmm, I think I can kind of see that now that you mention it - kind of weird, because on it’s own Elowen sounds so girly to me. Something to think about… What does everyone else think???

I think [name]Wilson[/name] is a fine name and definitely works as a first name. I know an adorable little boy named [name]Wilson[/name] who brought it into the first name category for me. I prefer it over [name]William[/name] any day. As for sounding alright with [name]Griffin[/name] and Elowen, I don’t think there’s a problem there. I think it is more important that you have three names you love instead of three names that sound wonderful together. Definitely don’t think you’d have to continue with the “ending in N” pattern.

Agirlinred, thanks for your comments! I too like [name]Wilson[/name] better than [name]William[/name], and I’m liking the Wils nn.
[name]Glad[/name] to hear that most of you who have commented think my sib-set could work without being too matchy.
Thanks to each of you who commented! I would love to hear more opinions!

[name]Hi[/name] kaer - yes I agree Elowen on its own sounds very feminine to me (it’s one of my new favorites and would love it for myself if it weren’t so similar to [name]Gwendolyn[/name]). It’s just something about all three of the names together that made me pause - maybe it’s not that Elowen sounds more masculine but that it blends in a little more with [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Wilson[/name] and so loses some of it’s luster??? I’m not sure. But I like all the names individually.

Gwensmom, thanks again for your input! By the way, I really like your daughter’s name!
Hmmm, maybe [name]Griffin[/name], Elowen and [name]Beckett[/name] would be better? What about another girl’s name that fits with these? Here are some more favorites:
[name]Cecily[/name], [name]Coralie[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Irina[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] - what would you all choose as a sister to [name]Griffin[/name], Elowen & [name]Beckett[/name] or [name]Griffin[/name], Elowen & [name]Wilson[/name]?
Thanks in advance!

With [name]Griffin[/name], Elowen and [name]Wilson[/name], I would choose [name]Cecily[/name] or [name]Irina[/name]. If you wanted to keep with the -n theme I would suggest [name]Adrienne[/name].
With [name]Griffin[/name], Elowen and [name]Beckett[/name], I would still choose [name]Cecily[/name] or maybe [name]Coralie[/name].

I do like [name]Beckett[/name] with Elowen and especially [name]Griffin[/name]. I would also like [name]Wilson[/name], [name]Beckett[/name] and Elowen.
