[name_u]Fifer[/name_u].
I think its different, sweet and feminine. It’s musical, which I love, and Scottish, which SO loves. I cant seem to shake it but wonder if maybe its just a GP name. What does everyone else think?

Yes thats how I am pronouncing it!
I can’t say I’m too keen on it at all. It’s just doesn’t appeal to me. It immediately made me think ([name_f]Michelle[/name_f]) [name_m]Pfeiffer[/name_m], which is not necessarily a bad thing, I just see it as more a surname than a female first (I can’t seem to get on the surnames as first names train for either gender myself). That said, occupational surnames on girls IS a current trend, so I think [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] could definitely work if you really wanted it to.
I like the associations, but I’m not sure I love the sound…it sounds like a cartoon character name to me. Still, I think it’s usable.
I’m not crazy about it. However, I think the fact that you and S.O. love it, and that it’s meaningful to you, plus the negative responses aren’t people who HATE it, but just have a kinda, “meh, not for me.” reaction means that for your family, it’s totally usable, and probably a good idea at the end of the day.
I’ve considered it as an alternative to [name_u]Piper[/name_u], which I love but is too popular for me. It’s nice as a softer, less spunky version.
I think this is good and reasonable advice. I’m in the “meh, not for me” camp, but I guess that’s because I’ve known two dogs named [name_u]Fifer[/name_u], and I’m naf of similar names like [name_u]Piper[/name_u].
I like it! I think you should go for it if you want to use it!
It’s very tacky to me.
Sorry, I detest it.
[name_u]Fifer[/name_u] feels like a boys name to me only because it reminds me of Fievel the mouse (An American Tail: Fievel Goes [name_u]West[/name_u]). I don’t mind it though. I see what others mean by an alternative to [name_u]Piper[/name_u].
Funny a PP also mentioned Fivel the mouse. That’s all I can think of as well ! I don’t like it and really don’t like it for a girl. I hate the name [name_u]Piper[/name_u] as well though so my opinion on this is probably irrelevant.
I think it sounds different, but not bad! I’ve never heard it as a first name so I don’t know how I feel about it yet but I think I could warm up to it!
I like [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] a lot! I like both [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_u]Fifer[/name_u], but I’d much prefer to meet a little [name_u]Fifer[/name_u]. I don’t remember where, but I remember coming across [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], and I think that’s just gorgeous.
Haha, it’s my mother’s fish’s name (named after a family friend’s surname). So that’s pretty much all I can think of! I think if it weren’t for that I would really like it!
To be honest, I think [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] is odd and not at all feminine. [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] sounds like a surname to me.
