Pros: cool, ties into family name [name]Ruth[/name], Scandinavian heritage, sounds like [name]Oona[/name] which husband and I both love but we’re not sure about.
Cons: still pretty weird and out there, unclear what sibling or middle names would go with it…
Thoughts? We like [name]Luna[/name], but get hung up on “lunatic” concerns, although we do love the moon connection.
Interesting… I just posted a question about [name]Bruna[/name] in [name]Baby[/name] Forum. First response was that I liked it, though now I can’t get “ruins” out of my head. I know a little [name]Oona[/name] and think it is adorable. [name]Luna[/name] doesn’t have a lunatic connotation for me.
Thanks! I’ve been thinking of ruins too…it’s probably a little too much. Yeah, [name]Luna[/name] seems passed that for most people, I know. [name]Glad[/name] you like [name]Oona[/name]! It gets mixed reactions. [name]Bruna[/name] I could love for that oo sound, it is just so pretty, but the whole thing is a little close to [name]Bruno[/name] or [name]Brutus[/name] to me? Still, it would be sort of surprising and refreshing on a little girl.
Probably can’t get around that Brutish feeling of [name]Bruna[/name]. Though my husband’s last name is tough to match with (1ester) and [name]Bruna[/name] sounds pretty cool with it. Means “brown”–we have two red heads and one light brown with blue eyes. I though if the baby came out very brown-haired it, like her father, it might work. Probably too wacky though–especially after my whole “[name]Jemima[/name]” experience.
With that said, I think [name]Oona[/name] would be a fun stretch. The “lamb” meaning is lovely and it looks like there are a few quirky Oonas out there. It would work well with some of your boy names as well, even the non-Irish ones ([name]Nathaniel[/name], nn [name]Nat[/name] or Than…awesome). [name]Love[/name] a bunch of your girl names, btw. [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] are always on my list. [name]Love[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] and also [name]Maren[/name]. Good luck!
Thanks! Yeah, I sense a kick-a$$ feel to [name]Bruna[/name] 1ester, but I hear ya, I think it might be a too much. I actually like the alliteration of [name]Luna[/name] 1ester.
It would be awesome if you used [name]Oona[/name] : D. Yeah, I like the lamb thing too. Thanks for thinking it fits well…I could see it maybe, especially with those two girls names.
Oh, funny. [name]Oona[/name] for you, not for me. We don’t really have any Scandinavian blood and I tend to stick to names that fit the heritage more. YOU should do it! Not taking your name…
I heard the name [name]Juna[/name] (june-uh) from this TV show that didn’t last very long, but the name stuck with me. I like that better than Runa, which I like better than [name]Oona[/name]. I’m also not Scandinavian, so it doesn’t matter what I think
Oh, sorry I misunderstood [name]Clara[/name] : D. I wouldn’t consider it stealing though FYI!
Thanks leafitz! [name]Juna[/name] is very pretty - [name]June[/name] has a lot of meaning to me as a month, so that is cool. But my husband has sort of vetoed the whole [name]June[/name]/[name]Juna[/name]/[name]Junia[/name]/[name]Juno[/name] cluster, which is fine.
[name]Non[/name]-Scandanavian opinions very much welcome : D! I think Runa needs to go to the backburner…just had a moment of intrigue with it!
