Wdyt?

Thinking about adding these names to my list. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t really see them around Nameberry and would like some feedback.

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Hestia[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f]
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f]
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Theda[/name_f]
[name_f]Una[/name_f]
[name_u]Vega[/name_u]

They seem fairly consistent in their aesthetic, which is good. The names give me a naturey, witchy vibe with a dash of literary. Of them, the ones I like are [name_f]Ffion[/name_f], [name_f]Hestia[/name_f], [name_f]Margery[/name_f], [name_f]Nessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Una[/name_f].

Too Hard to Pronounce:
[name_f]Ffion[/name_f]

Absolutely [name_u]Love[/name_u]:
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Hestia[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] (but especially spelled [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f])
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Theda[/name_f]

Appreciate:
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f]

Dislike:
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] (reads like Dismay to me)
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Una[/name_f]
[name_u]Vega[/name_u]

Here are my thoughts:

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] - I much prefer [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] (which I love), although I’ve heard they don’t actually have the same root? The double F in the beginning just looks weird to me as someone who is not native to [name_f]Ireland[/name_f].

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - I like it, but I’ve met way too many dogs named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. It’s pretty though.

[name_f]Hestia[/name_f] - I actually [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Hestia[/name_f]! I love the goddess, too. Very under appreciated name I think.

[name_f]Holly[/name_f] - It’s fine but underwhelming compared to the rest of your list. Not bad though.

[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] - Not my style.

[name_f]Judith[/name_f] - It’s fine but I prefer [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]. It does have a very authoritative vibe to me, which is cool.

[name_f]Margery[/name_f] - Feels too Game of Thrones to me.

[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] - I love this!! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it feels a bit “dark,” I like it a lot. Also love Rowena/Rowenna, which has a similar vibe.

[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] - Reminds me of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] and turtles.

[name_f]Nessa[/name_f] - Not bad but kind of eh.

[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] the stone, but not the sound out loud. A solid choice though.

[name_f]Polly[/name_f] - Not my style.

[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f] - Very cool name, I love it!

[name_f]Theda[/name_f] - I like it, no strong opinion either way.

[name_f]Una[/name_f] - Since it’s a word in Spanish it doesn’t feel like a name to me.

[name_u]Vega[/name_u] - No strong opinion either way.

Favorites are: [name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f], [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f], and [name_f]Hestia[/name_f].

I absolutely love [name_f]Una[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Judith[/name_f] as well. It’s a great list. Many of the names feel like they SHOULD be more talked about than they are.

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] the meaning! Pronunciation would be a bit of a hassle, but that wouldn’t stop me if I love the name. Slightly prefer [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u]! So sweet and vintage!
[name_f]Hestia[/name_f] - Not a fan. It’s okay.
[name_f]Holly[/name_f] - I actually kinda like this. It’s been growing on me.
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] - I quite like this.
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] - A bit dated, but would be kinda refreshing on a young girl.
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] - Cute. Prefer [name_f]Margo/name_f.
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] - I like it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a bit ‘witchy’ though.
[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] - Not my style.
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f] - It’s just oay.
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this!
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] - I actually like this. I think it’s adorable.
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f] - I like this.
[name_f]Theda[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
[name_f]Una[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this in all it’s spellings!
[name_u]Vega[/name_u] - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t care for this. Reminds me of [name_f]Vegas[/name_f].

A lot of the names are nice but not my style, however, I really like [name_f]Polly[/name_f]. I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Polly[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Holly[/name_f], [name_f]Theda[/name_f], [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] and [name_f]Polly[/name_f] - they’re on my list, too.

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f]–Looks great, do not know how to pronounce
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]—The older I get the better I like this one, 30 years ago I would have said no way
[name_f]Hestia[/name_f]—[name_f]Do[/name_f] not care for this, don’t know why
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]—Pretty, cute cheerleader name.
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f]–[name_m]Ismael[/name_m], whale etc…Probably a negative for me
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]–Solid, classic name. Not heard too much now, so a good one.
[name_f]Margery[/name_f]—Like the above, but I prefer [name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f]—I like this one! a Guilty pleasure name for me. My favorite on your list.
[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f]—My Grandmothers name. Always disliked it and so did she. She went by [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f]–Twilight, [name_m]Loch[/name_m] Ness Monster…sorry!!
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]—Kind of like [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] and a car I had once that was a lemon
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]—I like this name, but cannot get far from the Parrot
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f]—I do not care for this, but I do not care for most R names
[name_f]Theda[/name_f]—Have not paid attention to this one before, but I like it
[name_f]Una[/name_f]—One of the U name I come up with when my mind goes blank
[name_u]Vega[/name_u] —What happens in [name_f]Vegas[/name_f]…stays in [name_f]Vegas[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]!

None of them are my style, because:

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] - how do you even pronounce this? The double Ff is problematic
[name_f]Holly[/name_f] & [name_f]Polly[/name_f] - just too babyish…same with [name_f]Molly[/name_f] - rhyming with golly and jolly…not good.
[name_f]Hestia[/name_f] - reminds me of [name_f]Hester[/name_f] from the [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] Letter
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] - not pretty to look at or pronounce
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] - not a fan of names ending in th…sounds like they are missing a final syllable
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] - always reminds me of margarine…ugh!
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] - not a pretty look and sounds like someone who mispronounces r’s like w’s
[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] & [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - so old-ladyish
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f] - sounds incomplete…or like a nickname for [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]- a old car name, and not a pleasant sound.
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f] - this is just ugly…both in looks and sound
[name_f]Theda[/name_f]- don’t really like Th names…sound like a lisp
[name_f]Una[/name_f]- I knew a lovely british woman named this, but prefer the [name_f]Oona[/name_f] spelling so it looks less like a number
[name_u]Vega[/name_u] - reminds me of the deadly car in the 1970’s

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] is a Welsh girls’ name & the double ff signifies that the pronunciation is the f sound, not the v sound as it would be if if was a single f. It’s pronounced (depending on which site you check) as [name_u]FEE[/name_u]-on, [name_u]FEE[/name_u]-awn, or FI-awn, & means foxglove. I’d completely be on board w/using this name!

Other yesses:

[name_f]Holly[/name_f]: I’ve always liked [name_f]Holly[/name_f]. The name strikes me as that of a down-to-earth friendly girl.
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]: [name_f]Judith[/name_f] in the Bible is a badass! [name_u]Jude[/name_u] makes a great nickname, but [name_f]Judy[/name_f] is still too dated to my ear.
[name_f]Theda[/name_f]: I think of [name_f]Theda[/name_f] [name_f]Bara[/name_f], the silent movie star, so the name has a sultry, vampy feel to me.

Eh:

[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f]: There are a lot of Welsh names I like more than this one.
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f]: Like a pp said, it’s got an incomplete sound to it.
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f]: Same as [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f].
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]: It’s too nickname-y for me.
[name_u]Vega[/name_u]: On one hand it’s a star name, which is cool, but on the other hand it’s very reminiscent of [name_f]Vegas[/name_f], which isn’t (at least to me).

NMS:

[name_f]Hestia[/name_f]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] the goddess, but the name does remind me of [name_f]Hester[/name_f] from The [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] Letter.
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f]: It sounds to me like the syllables should be reversed so the name would be Mayis ([name_f]May[/name_f]-iss).
[name_f]Margery[/name_f], [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], & [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]: Too old-fashioned.
[name_f]Una[/name_f]: I want to like it because it belongs to a lovely character in one of the [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables series, but the combination of letters is unappealing to my eye. [name_f]Oona[/name_f]'s better, but still…

I like [name_f]Ffion[/name_f], [name_f]Ismay[/name_f], [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] & [name_u]Vega[/name_u] best myself.

Those I’m not fond of ([name_f]Judith[/name_f], [name_f]Margery[/name_f], [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] & [name_f]Polly[/name_f]) are all just very dated in my own mind and I just cannot get past that I’m afraid. That said, those ‘old-fashioned’ types are definitely a trend of late, so they’d probably fit right into modern day.

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] - Never know how to pronounce it
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - I love this name
[name_f]Hestia[/name_f] - Not a fan
[name_f]Holly[/name_f] - Another name I love, and think it doesn’t get used often enough!
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] - First reaction: Does she mean [name_f]Esme[/name_f]?
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] - Sounds stuffy to me
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] better, but it does remind me of an older woman
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] - nope
[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] - Sounds very harsh to me
[name_f]Nessa[/name_f] - I really like it as a nickname for something else
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - Not as a first, but as a middle
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] - [name_m]Will[/name_m] always remind me of a parrot
[name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f] - That’s really pretty
[name_f]Theda[/name_f] - Not my taste
[name_f]Una[/name_f] - Too foreign sounding to me
[name_u]Vega[/name_u] - I like [name_f]Vera[/name_f], not [name_u]Vega[/name_u]

Thank you!
