We are so stuck!!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!! We are expecting our 3rd child and our 1st boy! My husband likes very traditional names ([name_m]Frank[/name_m], [name_u]Gus[/name_u], [name_m]Bob[/name_m]) and I am the complete opposite and want a name that you rarely hear, so we are trying to compromise and find something in between. The hard part is we need the 3rd letter to be a “y”. I’m [name_f]Krystal[/name_f], he’s [name_m]Bryan[/name_m], and my daughters are [name_f]Alyvia[/name_f] and Laycie. We don’t care for any of the -yden or -yson names as they seem to be pretty common. We already have a [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] and a [name_u]Bryce[/name_u] in the family so those are out. My husband has vetoed [name_u]Tayte[/name_u], [name_u]Peyton[/name_u], and Reymi. Others that we have as maybe’s are [name_m]Waylen[/name_m], [name_m]Gryffin[/name_m], Jaymison, and [name_m]Rhyse[/name_m] ([name_u]Reese[/name_u]). I’ve heard you all are very creative, so I hope you may be able to help me out!! Thanks for reading!!

I would go with jaymison. This allows for your husband to have the more traditional name as [name_u]Nick[/name_u] name ( jaymes)

To be honest I would rather see that you spelled a name as it’s meant to be rather than sticking a y in there because it just looks misspelled. He will constantly have to correct people which I think, would get annoying. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a suggestion.

I agree with pp… The girls names aren’t terrible , but those boys names are too much… Maybe pick a name that naturally has a y in the third space so it doesn’t seem as awkward

I agree with whitegardenia. I think it’s better to choose a name with a y in it rather than to invent one.

These are my favorites for you:

[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]
[name_u]Royce[/name_u]
[name_u]Dayton[/name_u]
[name_u]Bryce[/name_u]
[name_m]Bryson[/name_m]
[name_m]Raymond[/name_m]

[name_m]Jayce[/name_m]
[name_u]Bayley[/name_u]
[name_m]Bly[/name_m]
[name_m]Daymon[/name_m]
[name_m]Zayn[/name_m]
[name_u]Egypt[/name_u]
[name_m]Ely[/name_m] ([name_m]Eli[/name_m])
[name_m]Mayer[/name_m]
Meyers
[name_m]Moyses[/name_m]

Found these
[name_m]Raymond[/name_m]
[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]
[name_u]Bryce[/name_u]
[name_u]Royce[/name_u]
Maybe these too…
[name_m]Zayn[/name_m]
[name_m]Jayce[/name_m]

I also agree with pp. Shoving y-s in where i-s usually are looks really forced and (sorry for honesty!) a bit ridiculous. [name_m]How[/name_m] about good old [name_m]Jayson[/name_m]? It’s a classic, but you can call him [name_m]Jayce[/name_m] instead of [name_u]Jay[/name_u]. I find [name_m]Jayce[/name_m] more modern. Also pps have made great suggestions.

I would also not recommend misspelling a name just to force a Y into it. Here are some suggestions:BryanBrysonBryantCaydenHayesRaymondTaylor

I like [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] - it’s a nice, strong name with a history that comes off as a lot classier than more “creative” spellings with Y in them. They just look misspelled and will mean the kid has to spelling out his name his whole life - not worth it just to fit in with the family gimmick. Other ideas:

[name_u]Bay[/name_u]
[name_u]Baylor[/name_u]
[name_m]Wayne[/name_m]
[name_m]Clyde[/name_m]
[name_m]Boyd[/name_m]
[name_u]Reynold[/name_u]
[name_m]Maynard[/name_m]

If you could be a little more flexible about where the y appears, you could consider [name_m]Trey[/name_m], [name_m]Troy[/name_m], [name_m]Clayton[/name_m], [name_u]Gray[/name_u], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], or [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m].

Suggestions

[name_u]Bryn[/name_u]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] -. It looks weird with ‘e’ on the end of it.
[name_m]Mayer[/name_m] (pronounced [name_f]May[/name_f]-er)
[name_u]Roy[/name_u]
Reynalds
[name_m]Wayne[/name_m]
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u]

I would go with [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] or [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]. Please don’t do a made up or fake “y” name. It’ll just make life difficult for him.

I prefer [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] by a mile

I really like [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] from your list.

I also like [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] (nn sonny), [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_m]Ryker[/name_m], and [name_u]Brayden[/name_u].

My favorites are [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]. Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

You should think about how the name will look on a resume - [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] and [name_u]Bryce[/name_u], [name_f]Krystal[/name_f] and [name_m]Bryan[/name_m] are super white names. I’m assuming you’re white. A name with a y thrown in that is invented, looks like it’s ethnic and perhaps not a well educated person to boot. When job applicants are concerned about racial profiling and go so far as to Americanize or change their names to get their foot in the door for an interview, why put your child at a disadvantage??
If you don’t care about that… then how about [name_m]Tayshaun[/name_m], [name_f]Raynell[/name_f], [name_m]Tayrone[/name_m]…

I like [name_m]Gryffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhyse[/name_m].

Why not just cut straight to the point and tell her that you think the names she’s considering are too black or too ghetto for a white baby? Also, why is white your default assumption? Have you seriously never met a [name_m]Bryan[/name_m] or a [name_f]Krystal[/name_f] who wasn’t white? This entire post drips with racism.

Thanks to those of you who actually gave name suggestions.

[name_m]Gryffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhyse[/name_m] and really nice!

Wow, seriously? This is just unbelievable…

Anyway, names I would suggest are:

[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] (definitely my favourite)
[name_u]Jay[/name_u]
[name_m]Jayce[/name_m]
[name_u]Peyton[/name_u]
[name_m]Waylon[/name_m]
[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Haynes[/name_m]
[name_m]Maynard[/name_m]
[name_m]Clyde[/name_m]
Keylan
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]

Best of luck with your search for the perfect name
