I’m pregnant with our second daughter, due in 2 months!!! We are both very picky, but with our first daughter we decided on the name (Clementine) around this point in the pregnancy!
So far he only likes [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemis[/name_f], which I think are beautiful but I’m not sure how useable they are. Let me know what you guys think!!!
I’m open to suggestions as well. Some other names we like are [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f].
[name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], & [name_f]Iris[/name_f] all seem like great matches with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. Those have my vote over [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemis[/name_f].
I think Wednesday is very nice. Maybe if he likes that, and you are worried about it being too much, Wendy could be a nice alternative.
I don’t personally like Artemis, and maybe I feel it doesn’t go with your other daughter’s but I think a lot of Greek Goddess names might. Like: Persephone and Athena.
Other ideas based off the others:
Azalea
Magnolia
Olive
Liana
Jasmin
Eloise
Lenore
Eden
Althea
Alexandra
Lilac
Everly
Holly
Dahlia
Ayla
Juno
I think [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] are both very usable if that’s the only thing holding you back. And I think they both sound nice with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] as they’re longer names but not too matchy. Personally I like [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] over [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] but I have no real reason why and I think both are nice. [name_f]My[/name_f] only concern would be how [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] sounds with your last name since it begins with W but it’s hard to say without knowing the name.
I like all your ideas, but I’m not sure if they remind me very much of clementine’s name! The first set are unique but not as bright and the second set are bright but not as unique. Any would work but I tried to blend the two styles a bit.
I think [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] are a bit jolting with older sister’s name. Of the others, I think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] probably goes the best with sib’s name.
Wednesday is so cute but I really love the idea of Sunday with Clementine!!!
I feel like it fits the vibe nicer and is still unexpected and unique. Ivy and Alice are very nice names but definitely more common than Clementine. Iris is especially beautiful for rainbow babies. Artemis is a unique choice but sounds a little masculine next to darling Clementine imo.
My fave recommendation is for
Sunday nn Sunni
All of the names you guys like are beautiful though!
I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]! [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is probably my favorite of the 3 to go with big sister’s name.
I’m not a fan of word names, especially ones that come up in regular conversation a lot, such as days of the week. I feel like it would have been confusing for me as a kid hearing my name and the day of the week used very frequently. But a lot of people do like word names, so that’s just my person preference.
I think usability varies greatly from person to person. All you can do is ask yourself if you would feel comfortable and confident introducing your daughter with that name or if you would feel reluctant in some way.
Some suggestions inspired by the names you mentioned in your post.
What ate your husband’s reasons for his love of [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] amd [name_f]Artemis[/name_f]? Meaning, mythology? Something else? Knowing might help with suggestions that are more of a middle ground, as they’re definitely bold choices compared to the other names you say you both like. Does he like them because they’re bold, or after characters?
I think either [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] or [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] would be fine, but for some people I imagine [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] will straight away make them think Addams, and whether that’s something you want I’m not sure?
I like Ivy & Iris best with Clementine, Ivy is the nicest balance to me. I do like Wednesday but find Sunday, as others have, a better match tonally. I’d be reluctant to use Artemis - some teasing potential there and because of Artemas reads boyish to me.
Congratulations on [name_f]Baby[/name_f] Number 2!
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a lovely choice, and I’m sure you’ll find something equally pleasing for this girl.
Of your list, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] stand out as beautiful and usable. They’re shorter than the 3 syllable [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], but that’s not really a concern.
I agree with @Audreymb that having a day of the week as a name might be unpleasant for the wearer.
I do like the flow of [name_f]Artemis[/name_f], though. It matches [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]: 3 syllables, emphasis on the first. Yelling “Clementine! Artemis!” out the back door would spark joy.
Names with the same flow:
[name_f]Aravis[/name_f] (from the [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] Series)
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Averil[/name_f]
[name_m]Bellamy[/name_m]
[name_f]Callaway[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellerby[/name_f]
[name_m]Faraday[/name_m]
[name_m]Holloway[/name_m]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_m]Mariner[/name_m]
Morissey
[name_m]Odyssey[/name_m]
[name_f]Rivera[/name_f] / [name_m]Riviera[/name_m] / [name_f]Rivulet[/name_f]
[name_m]Vetiver[/name_m]
[name_m]Willoughby[/name_m] (sounds like girl name [name_f]Willa[/name_f] + bee)
I guess he just likes the sound of them and the way Wednesday goes with our last name!! Nothing to do with the characters or anything else… I prefer unique names as well but he hasn’t been a fan of any other suggestions…
Personally I think Artemis sounds a bit too masculine especially in comparison to sister’s name. Wednesday is cute but I feel like everyone will automatically think of the Addams family or the day of the week.
All the names on your list are useable, but I think they all have slightly different vibes with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. This is all my opinion, but maybe it’ll spark something for you?
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - I absolutely adore this set. [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] continues to be heavily associated with [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] Addams, but she’s not a bad namesake and I think pairing [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] makes her feel a lot brighter. I love that they’re both unusual word names, both a similar length, both even have a similar visual rhythm (Clem-men-tine and Wed-nes-day). It’s such a quirky, fun, unexpected set. Another poster suggested nickname [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], which I also think is adorable. And an alliterative name is always fun.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] (personally I like [name_m]Ari[/name_m] or [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as nicknames), but I do feel it’s the most mismatched of the sets. [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are both unique, but in very different ways, with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] being very down to earth and [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] literally mythological. However, [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] do both have a lot of energy and could make a zingy pair. I think if [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] is your favourite, go for it.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] - [name_f]Alice[/name_f] pulls [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] in a more traditional direction. They’re both very sweet, literary, old fashioned. I picture two quiet girls in ruffled dresses reading at a picnic.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - Really nice set, a bit more outdoorsy vibes. The only hesitation I have is that [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] looks very slight next to [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], but they’re both lovely names, both nature names and I like that [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] are both non floral plant names.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is also short, but feels more substantial to me. This set in general feels very beautiful and feminine. They’re also a very colourful set.
Thank you for the feedback ! After reading your comment I realize that I’m definitely looking for a pairing more similar to [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. Though I do like [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] as well, I’m still not convinced that it is useable…
I love [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemis[/name_f]. Given that [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] has Greek goddess roots and Wednesday’s strongest association is from pop culture, [name_f]Artemis[/name_f] is probably a little more usable, but I honestly think either could work.
