Yes im sure you’re all tired of me posting about the same few names, but goodness naming this baby girl is HARD!
DH has pretty much shot down all of my suggestions I’ve mentioned while browsing this site and we’ve come to an agreement on the ONLY 2 names he likes.
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Brielle[/name]
He actually really likes the name [name]Emeri[/name]/[name]Emery[/name] but I dont want to use it b/c the city we live in, that name (diff spelling) is kind of a big thing. We also have an associate with that name so Im not to sold on using that name.
Anyway, He loooves [name]Brielle[/name] but we cant find a mn that flows with it as a fn so he wants to use both names and name her [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] but im afraid its too much “el” sound…do you think it flows well?
Any other [name]Elodie[/name] and [name]Brielle[/name] combos would be greatly appreciated for consideration. Im just happy to know that this baby finally has a 90% potential fn with a backup name just in case lol.
[name]Elodie[/name] and [name]Brielle[/name] are lovely! I agree that [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] is quite “el” heavy… have you considered [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Gabrielle[/name]? I think that breaks up the “el” heaviness quite nicely… [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Joy[/name] or [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] could be nice. Or what about [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]?
I know it sounds crazy but as much of a fan I am of [name]Brielle[/name] on its own im not a fan of [name]Gabrielle[/name]…I dont know if its the whole “[name]Gab[/name]/[name]Gabby[/name]” thing but Its just nms. I kinda like [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]. I was also considering [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Kate[/name], but DH is not budging on [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] if we cant use [name]Brielle[/name] as the fn…he really wants that a part of her name!! Its nerve wrecking lol
I think I might be able to sell him on [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Kate[/name].
I love the name [name]Elodie[/name] so much and he loves [name]Brielle[/name] just as much so if we do use them both I dont want people to think we went crazy with the “el” sound. I mean I guess it flows and the sound is at the first and last part of the names, but thats the only thing holding me back from using them both
I like both names. I think [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] sounds ok. [name]Just[/name] remember you’re probably not calling her by both names all the time so if it doesn’t flow “perfectly,” it’s fine!
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Gabrielle[/name] or [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Kate[/name] sound so much classier and substantial than [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] (imo)
I have some pretty strong negative feelings about [name]Brielle[/name] that I would be willing to express but only if you want to hear other people’s impression of the name but since you didnt ask for that specific kind of feedback I will refrain. If you have decided [name]Brielle[/name] is for you and are not looking for opinions then I dont want to tarnish the name for you. Good luck with your baby naming, [name]Elodie[/name] is nms but its a lovely choice when pronounced right!
You all are right, we will only be calling her [name]Elodie[/name]… nn “[name]Elle[/name]”. I guess I just got so caught up in how the whole name flows that it became a deciding factor lol.
So I guess its official? [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] it is…for now lol. my family keeps asking if we picked a name and now that we have I still dont plan on telling them until she is born…gotta keep something secret I do hope they like it and think its a pretty name as much as I do!
More to do with the nameberry entry then your choice but Brielle imo is an american frenchified name (which I dont care for) or a nn for Gabrielle but Brie is definitely not used as a fn in France so Brielle doesnt come from it. I think its important to know that though in case it has anything to do with why you chose it. If anyone can find Brielle on a legit french site and not one like asiaflash then I will concede and admit I’m wrong (which happens more than I like!) but the only legit French results I can find are for US/CA/AU statistics of the name. -OK semi OT authenticity rant over
my hubbies opinion on Brielle is that it sounds like the name a stripper or pornstar chose because it sounds classy and french when it is neither. 10 minutes ago I wouldve said that was a little extreme and that its just trendy/nms but I googled pornstar and brielle and found 2, 3 if you count Briella and I have to say it’s sort of stripper sounding to me.
HOWEVER there are names I love that people think are awful! And a lot of people seem to like Brielle so we may very well be in the minority and if Brielle is what makes you happy then use it. FWIW I would never outright judge or treat a Brielle any different then I would a Josephine but I cant imagine it on a lawyer/judge/president etc.
Edited to add: I just googled Josephine and pornstar and 3 came up! So names really are what you make of it, like I said plenty of people feel differently about Brielle.
I’ll be honest, I think the Googling isn’t a good argument. When I was younger I typed in my first name .com and uhhh… yeah not good. I’m sure you could Google “pornstar anyname” and something would come up. [name]Feel[/name] free to try it with my name ([name]Jenni[/name]). I bet there are tons since my name was so popular.
I do see where you’re coming from with your first point though. I don’t like when people/websites claim names came from a certain place when they didn’t. I tend to trust Behind The Name for this kind of stuff. Here is what it says:
Meaning & [name]History[/name]
Short form of [name]GABRIELLE[/name]. This is also the name of towns in the Netherlands and New [name]Jersey[/name], though their names derive from a different source.
Go with [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name]. I love [name]Elodie[/name] and I don’t think [name]Brielle[/name] is really first name material, but together in this combo it seems lovely.
I think [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] sounds fine, even with the two -el sounds. I especially love that it worked out where each parent would get to use their favorite name!
I have heard of the town in NJ by the name of [name]Brielle[/name] from a song by the guy from Owl City called “[name]Brielle[/name]” (he made it under a different name though and I cant think of it at the moment.) alot of people think its about a girl but I think its about the town… I kinda like the song lol.
I think her name should be [name]Elodie[/name] it is a beautiful name, classic and feminine which will serve her well all her life. Unfortunately I feel that [name]Brielle[/name] sounds very trendy and that it is not substantial enough. It is a shame that you are not fond of [name]Gabrielle[/name] as it has just the right kind of feel to make a great combo.
Stylewise [name]Elodie[/name] and [name]Brielle[/name] are streets apart but if you went for say [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] you would have a great combo.
I think [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] is very cute.
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Gabrielle[/name] is fine, but I don’t see a problem with the original.
[name]Elodie[/name] is so beautiful! I think it’s gorgeous [name]Brielle[/name] strikes me as a little trendy, and I think I’d prefer [name]Gabrielle[/name] or another long form. I think [name]Emeri[/name]/[name]Emery[/name] sounds masculine, and is definitely more of a boys name.
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Brielle[/name] would actually be a nice combo!
