We finally have a semi-solid list of names to take to the hospital in a few weeks! As of right now, it’s looking like baby could be named:
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] - Probably the #1 if we were ranking the list, this has been on the list for basically the whole pregnancy. I’ve loved [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] for a long time, and [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is my middle name. My husband likes that it sounds “comic booky”, she’d have lots of nickname options (I’m leaning toward [name_u]June[/name_u]/[name_f]Junie[/name_f], but she could also be JJ). Only downside to this one is that an acquaintance used it recently and used a similar sounding middle name as well, so that makes me a little hesitant to use it, just because [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is not very common here so it’d look a little like I stole it from her. But I don’t really know her at all, and we only have a few mutual friends, and I liked [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] before she named her baby that, and [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is my middle so I’m definitely not copying that!! (I’ve thought about this [name_m]WAY[/name_m] too much, it really is fine!!)
[name_f]Marceline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] - still iffy on the middle here (everything sounds better with [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] in the middle for some reason), but this is my favorite combination so far. Hang ups here are that we heard it first on Adventure Time, so I worry that everyone will always call her [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] the Vampire [name_f]Queen[/name_f] (but she’s a cool character, so that’s not too bad!). Also I don’t love [name_f]Marcy[/name_f], which will be the go to nickname. We’re thinking maybe we’d nickname her [name_f]Millie[/name_f] instead, but I don’t know if that would stick or not.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - This is probably last on the list, because I don’t think my husband super loves [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]. But I do! Not sure what we would nickname her (nicknames are kind of inevitable in my family with any name over three syllables, so I have to think about it in advance!!) but I’m sure we could come up with something.
I love [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] – so romantic. [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] the Vampire [name_f]Queen[/name_f] is cool to me :)!

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] - This is adorable. I personally don’t think I would ever name a child with double initials, but this one, I like. [name_f]Junie[/name_f] is a great nickname! And I wouldn’t worry too much about the other [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. If she thinks you copied, so what!
[name_f]Marceline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] - I have never heard of [name_f]Marceline[/name_f], but I like it! And I love love looove [name_f]Millie[/name_f] as a middle name. My full name is [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], but I go by [name_u]Ali[/name_u]. Naturally, people want to call me [name_u]Alex[/name_u], but I’ve been going by [name_u]Ali[/name_u] for so long that it has stuck. My suggestion would be, if you decide to go with this name, just call her [name_f]Millie[/name_f] from the get go!
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - This is such a lovely combo. I would even consider it a perfect combo. I really like [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], in fact, it’s on my long list. Tons of great nickname ideas are Lo, [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], Lei, [name_f]Nia[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f].
Considering everything, I think my favorite is [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f].
My favourite is [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], nn [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Junie[/name_f]. So sweet! [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] does sound rhymy as your husband has suggested so maybe using your first name as her middle, or does your maiden name work as a middle?
Go for [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]–you’ve wanted it for so long!
Or how about [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], so that way you aren’t going for a MN that’s similar to the other woman’s?
I know [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] has been on your list this whole time…and I don’t think it’s going anywhere I wouldn’t worry about your acquaintance. I think it’s perfect for you all!
I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] go for it. You sound very passionate about the name so go for it. I have juniper reed on my list and the name juniper is just adorable for a little girl
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is darling — it’s maybe worth asking what would make you feel totally OK with using the same name as your acquaintance. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you just need that person to confirm it’s not a big deal? Is it just the feeling that other mutual acquaintances might silently be judging that you copied? Or is it just personal disappointment that it takes away some of the (illusion of) uniqueness? Whatever it is, figure out what you need to do so it doesn’t feel like a cloud, or just concede that it’s no longer what you want. It’s usually kind of liberating to “let go” of a name if you have to…

I think that I am mostly just afraid people will silently judge me for ‘stealing’ it. I really don’t know this person well at all (we went to high school together but I haven’t seen her in a long time) but she has a really popular blog/instagram so a lot of people know that she named her baby that. I was so sad when she did!! But I think I am over it now, I really only talk to a few people from high school anyway, and I loved it before she used it, so even if someone did think I ‘stole’ it, I didn’t. I just over analyze things like this all the time, my husband thinks I’m crazy!!
So lovely! I’m also 33 weeks along. If we were having a girl, [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] would be her name. I love your other picks too though. We are almost sure of [name_m]Albert[/name_m] for our son, but, like you, might bring a list to the hospital. [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] are great picks too. Can’t go wrong!
I’d also like to add that you should use what you like! If my best friend named a girl [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] I’d still use it if I had a girl. My husband and I agreed on it years ago.

It’s one of my favorites! But I can’t get my husband to love [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] as much as I do, so I’m hoping we have another girl and I can sway him haha
I understand your hesitation about using [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] after your high school acquaintance used it, particularly if she has a widespread social media presence, and if you’re from a smaller community. If the middle names are also close, do you think either changing the middle name or adding another middle name would help to differentiate your choice? Since it’s a family name - your name!- it seems entirely reasonable to keep it, but it might feel better, at least mentally, for you.
The only combination I like on your list is [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] does sound like a comic book character and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] do not feel like names given to a girl born in 2016. I agree with you about disliking [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] as a nickname. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is a fine nickname for [name_f]Marceline[/name_f].
Between [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Marceline[/name_f], and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], I would most want to be named [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]. It is [name_m]French[/name_m] and feminine and I would also go by [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] and [name_f]Leontine[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Marcella[/name_f], but [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] unfortunately reminds me of Vaseline (this may be just me).
And while I love [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Junie[/name_f] and am OK with [name_f]Junia[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] sounds more male to me.
I wouldn’t worry about your acquaintance. I think it’s perfect for you all!
