Back again with a new short list that I would love some opinions on. After speaking to my husband, who pretty much butchered all my names that I loved we have come up with four that he’s willing to consider. [name]Samara[/name], [name]Alexis[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Elise[/name]. We have decided to probably use the name [name]Evelyn[/name] (previous post) as a middle name as long as it sounds ok. My other children are [name]Riley[/name] (b) [name]Jackson[/name] and [name]Piper[/name]
[name]Samara[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] - probably a bit feminine to match with [name]Piper[/name] but I have always had a huge soft spot for [name]Sami[/name] as a nickname. Would [name]Piper[/name] & [name]Sami[/name] be ok for sisters?
[name]Alexis[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] - husbands favourite, I would most likely call her [name]Lexi[/name].
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] - I think that [name]Lucy[/name] has enough spunk to stand next to [name]Piper[/name] even if it is more feminine.
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] - I am not an alliteration fan, so on the fence about this one but this option surprised me that my husband like it because his tastes tend to fall on the much more trendy side. So I’m willing to consider it.
My husband refused to get on board with [name]Meredith[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] or [name]Juno[/name] so unfortunately I have had to let them go. Anyway I would love your opinions. I realise for most these are not your style of names but my husbands first choices are [name]Mackenzie[/name] and [name]Maddison[/name] so these options for me whilst not perfect are better than that.
[name]Samara[/name] – I think [name]Sami[/name] works fine with [name]Piper[/name]. As far as [name]Samara[/name] being “too feminine” to go with [name]Piper[/name], I don’t think you should let that stop you. First of all, I disagree that it is too feminine to go with [name]Piper[/name], but secondly, I think that parents should choose names that they love for each individual child regardless of whether they all have the same feel. My name does NOT match my three sisters’ names in any way, but I know that my parents chose it because they love it, and that’s what matters. No one has ever pointed out that my very ‘50s name (which has no connection to my user name) doesn’t go with my sisters’ Bible names or '80s names. None of our names match, but no one has ever once questioned whether we were all fully biological sisters or a [name]Brady[/name] Bunch-type family. Our parents were simply gutsy enough to use a name from each style that they liked. I really like that approach. It makes each child’s name a bit more special, and doesn’t lock a parent down to one style.
[name]Alexis[/name] – This is the only name on your list that I dislike simply because of its popularity. I have heard of SOOOOOO many Alexas, Alexises, Alexandras, [name]Lexis[/name], etc., that the name, to me, has become the equivalent to naming a dog Rover. It attracts no attention to itself for being a beautiful or fun sound, but is just “another [name]Alexis[/name].” I feel that the other names on your list have much more character.
[name]Lucy[/name] – I see [name]Lucy[/name] brought up on this site all the time, but I don’t know a single [name]Lucy[/name] in real life apart from one elderly woman. I would love to see a little [name]Lucy[/name].
[name]Elise[/name] – I’ve always thought this was such a beautiful name, particularly because of Beethoven’s beautiful piece Fur [name]Elise[/name]. That makes it feel so classy. You may also like [name]Elissa[/name]. I wouldn’t let the alliteration of [name]Elise[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] stop you from using it. I think alliteration sounds musical and am unsure why so many people dislike it.
I like [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Samara[/name]( in that order) but I also shy away from [name]Alexis[/name] because of how many [name]Alexa[/name], [name]Lexi[/name] , [name]Alexis[/name] little girls I have met. And I hope you find a name that both you and your husband like, I had the name problem with my husband with our second daughter with many of the same names on both your lists:) good luck!
I like [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] the best.
[name]Alexis[/name] really isn’t my style. [name]Samara[/name] reminds me of the girl from The [name]Ring[/name]. [name]Elise[/name] is nice…but I just don’t think it flows as nicely with [name]Evelyn[/name] like [name]Lucy[/name] does.
[name]Piper[/name] and [name]Samara[/name] are fine together. They will have their own personalities anyway and will make the names their own. I think [name]Piper[/name] and [name]Sami[/name] are cute.
[name]Alexis[/name] has been done to death where I live. I just asked an old friend what her sister named her baby, and she told me her name was [name]Alexis[/name], and my first thoughts were “of course it is, just like every other little girl around here…!”.
[name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Elise[/name], I love. Very nice.
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] is my favorite. [name]Piper[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are adorable together. [name]Elise[/name] is my least favorite.
I love [name]Lucy[/name]! Seriously. [name]Elise[/name] is an elegant yet surprisingly spunky pairing with [name]Piper[/name], and [name]Alexis[/name] is also vey pretty (and I would rank the names in this order). Regardless of the popularity of [name]Alexis[/name], if it means so much to your husband, it may be worth keeping. I do not like [name]Samara[/name] because of the numerous nightmares I had about her after watching The [name]Ring[/name]. If you haven’t seen the movie, you might need to before naming your child [name]Samara[/name], just to be in-the-know. I think you and your husband have narrowed it down to three beautiful choices, and I think it’s neat that you agreed to keep [name]Evelyn[/name] as the middle name. Best of luck to you!
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] is a classic name that is timeless and will age well. I wouldn’t do [name]Alexis[/name] due to the fact that [name]Lexi[/name] is the new ‘in’ nickname for every girl named a moniker beginning with [name]Alex[/name]- (in my time it was [name]Ally[/name] and various spellings, but all the [name]Allys[/name] are now [name]Lexis[/name]). [name]Lucy[/name] has the same spunk as [name]Piper[/name] does, and while it ranks in the US top 100, I doubt it will jump to the top 50 for 2012, and I don’t think [name]Lucy[/name] has the same audience of parents as [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Emma[/name] did.
[name]Lucy[/name] works very well with your other children, and I adore the combination of [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]. I’m usually not big on the Alexas, [name]Alexis[/name]'s, etc because of popularity… but I must admit I don’t know many young ones named [name]Alexis[/name]. And I think [name]Lexi[/name] is super cute and can evolve into a name on its own. I’m a fan of alliteration, personally, so I like that quality of [name]Elise[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]. It’s not as specially as [name]Lucy[/name] or [name]Lexi[/name] to me though. The only name I really dislike from the pack is [name]Samara[/name]. It’s terrible to say but I immediately think of the villain child in “The [name]Ring[/name].” This aside, however (assuming most people won’t make this connection), I just think it is a mediocre full name to reach the cute nickname of [name]Sam[/name] or [name]Sami[/name]. If [name]Sami[/name] is your favorite, I’d go [name]Tiger[/name] Woods style and just name her [name]Sam[/name]. [name]Sam[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] is girly but cool, and you can call her [name]Sami[/name] all you want
**[name]Tiger[/name] Woods’ daughter is actually [name]Sam[/name] [name]Alexis[/name]… maybe it’s a sign! Haha
I would say my favorite is also [name]Alexis[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] and actually really think [name]Alexia[/name] is very pretty as well as an alternative.
Thanks for all your replies. I’m glad [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] is being well received because right now it’s currently my fav. I think we’ll be taking our short list into the hospital and see which one connects once we see her.
