[name_f]Esme[/name_f] is my favorite first name of the three by a hair, but [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] gets my vote. I like [name_f]Adele[/name_f] almost as much as [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and the combo flows better to my ear. Plus, I like that the siblings would have inverse initials - kind of a cute, subtle tie between the two. [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is nice but still feels slightly dated to me; I don’t think it compares to [name_f]Adele[/name_f] or [name_f]Esme[/name_f].

[name_f]Elaine[/name_f] might seem a bit dated compared to the other two, but I know she’s made our shortlist, because she would honor a very important person from our lives who recently died unexpectedly. I’m still not sure if [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is the right name for this baby, but I just wanted to share why this name is important to us.

That makes complete sense and I’m sorry for your loss. [name_f]Honor[/name_f] names are important to me, too, so I understand the reasoning.

For me it was between [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. I think both flow quite well with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and I slightly prefer [name_f]Adele[/name_f] over [name_f]Esme[/name_f], so [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] got my vote!

I love all of these, but [name_f]Adele[/name_f] is my favorite!

I love [name_f]Adele[/name_f], possibly with nickname [name_f]Della[/name_f]. Gorgeous!

I voted for [name_f]Esme[/name_f] based on flow but just wanted to say that I almost voted for [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] just because [name_f]Elaina[/name_f] is a favourite of mine. Since it’s meant to honour, I thought I would suggest it, with that specific spelling just in case it’s something you like too. I find it a little less dated.

Thanks for the suggestion. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] was actually on my long list, but while I like some of the longer names, I seem to prefer a two-syllable first name when naming an actual human. It just feels right. Plus, I know several Elenas/Elainas/Alaynas etc. It’s a fairly common name around here. [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is just different enough that I would consider it.

I voted for [name_f]Adele[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Esme[/name_f] but it’s far too popular. I wish it wasn’t. [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] feels a bit old and I’m not a huge fan tbh. I love [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. I’ve never met someone named [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and I have no clue why. I think it’s gorgeous.

I voted [name_f]Adele[/name_f], as to me, [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is very middle-aged woman and I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] from your signature.

I love [name_f]Adele[/name_f], and the nickname [name_f]Della[/name_f]. I also really like [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] (possible nicknames of [name_u]Lane[/name_u] or [name_u]Laney[/name_u]) and think it has similar vintage charm to [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]. For some reason, I’ve never liked [name_f]Esme[/name_f], but it fits well with [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] works as a lovely middle name to all three!

I’m curious. What part of the country is [name_f]Esme[/name_f] popular? It’s not at all common around here (the Southwest), but we have plenty of Spanish-influenced names that are super popular compared to other parts of the country.

I love both [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f], but [name_f]Adele[/name_f] to me is the better fit both with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and with your son’s name. It’s such a sweet, sophisticated choice — love!

[name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is amazing!!

I like all of your choices but voted for [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]. I liked that it matched [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] in English origin, whereas I expect more of a [name_m]French[/name_m] middle name for [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and Esmé. But they are all lovely. And for what it’s worth, my kids first names don’t match their middles so I am being a bit of a hypocrite

Haha! Well, my [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] actually has very [name_m]German[/name_m] origins, but I like your logic for choosing. Most of my ancestry is [name_m]German[/name_m] or from the British Isles with a little [name_m]French[/name_m] and Polish thrown in there.

Overall I find [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] has the best flow! I think it sounds lovely, and is a nice blending of two names some might consider more classical? I also think it fits up nicely with your son’s name (which was a major decider on first names for us). All the best in whatever you decide on though!
