We Need a Tiebreaker!

My husband and I finally narrowed down our lists and have chosen two girl’s names that we both love. One is my top name and the other is his, so we kind of need a tiebreaker to help us out. We aren’t very concerned with popularity of either of them, just want names that are simple, easy to pronounce, spell, and are classic.

My pick: [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

  • nickname: [name_u]Nori[/name_u]
  • [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is after my grandmother

His pick: [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]

  • nickname: Liddy
  • we need a middle name suggestion. We thought about [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. We want something strong as [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] feels very feminine to me.

Thank you!

My pick is [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!

I adore [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], so my vote goes to [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Sorry to your husband.

I like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] better than [name_f]Nora[/name_f], personally. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would be a nice combination, though very [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]-y.

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my choice. Its a pity it has to either one or the other. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is pretty but does not fit so well with [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
Both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] are beautiful names [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I second [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] nn [name_u]Nori[/name_u] is super cute, but I gotta pick [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], sorry!

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is beautiful and meaningful to you, so that earns my vote. (And I really don’t care for [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].)

I also prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! Pretty and classic, with a lovely sound.

I also thought I would suggest [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], as a middle ground between [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. Or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], which has the 3 syllables of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], but slightly more grounded feel of [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. It could honor your grandmother, and is a nice balance of classic and fun.

Good luck

My vote goes to [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It’s so beautiful and has a very classic feel to it. The names are also really lovely together and I love that [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] honors your grandmother.

I love [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but if you go with [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], which is also lovely, maybe consider using a gender neutral middle name. It is unconventional, but I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds great!

I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would be gorgeous. I don’t like [name_f]Nora[/name_f], it just feels…unfinished? to me. I prefer [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] with [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as the nickname.

Definitely [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]! I know a [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Lou[/name_u] (from [name_f]Louise[/name_f]). Also I’ve heard the nickname Liddy for [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

Both names are lovely although [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is slighty more to my taste, i like the idea of the combination [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] more, what would you think about [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]?

Difficult one. Both are great names, but I like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] just a touch more. I also second [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is a lovely suggestion! I’ll run it by him - thank you! [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] was on my list at one point, but he wasn’t a fan.

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is beautiful.
