Hello,
We are expecting our first baby in a couple months and are deadlocked on the name. We have a short list, can you please reply with your favorite or least favorite and give your reasoning? Thanks,
Edit: I hadn’t made the negative connections for the spelling of Aryanna. I think Arianna would be the spelling moving forward. Thanks, that’s why this thread is a good idea.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is my favourite. It’s a classic and timeless name that really isn’t overly popular. [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f] would be my favourite combo from your list.
I agree that [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f] is lovely. [name_f]Paige[/name_f] would actually work well as a middle name for many of these. I also like [name_f]Maisey[/name_f] though I prefer the spelling [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Lexa[/name_f] or [name_f]Andra[/name_f] or even [name_u]Alex[/name_u] make great nicknames for [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] as well.
I like [name_f]Maisey[/name_f] the best, but with the [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] spelling. I dislike [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Paige[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]; partly due to association, partly due to style, but also because they feel just slightly outdated. The youngest I know of each are all teenagers. I like [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], as in the ancient city, slightly better, for some reason. I dislike the spelling of [name_f]Aryanna[/name_f] (looks way too close to [name_m]Aryan[/name_m] for my taste), but even [name_f]Ariana[/name_f]/[name_f]Arianna[/name_f] in its purest spelling has become over-saturated and popular over the last couple years. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is cute and fresh, and has the more solid and mature nickname [name_f]Mai[/name_f]/[name_f]May[/name_f] should the need arise.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is my favorite. [name_f]Lexey[/name_f] looks super weird to me. I would go with [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] or [name_f]Lexy[/name_f]. (maybe that was a typo)
I prefer [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] spelled this way, and [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] spelled this way (though I do like [name_u]Arya[/name_u] with a ‘y’).
[name_f]Aryanna[/name_f] - Though I prefer [name_f]Arianna[/name_f], [name_f]Ariana[/name_f].
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] - nn [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] or [name_u]Lex[/name_u] are great.
[name_f]Maisey[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], though [name_f]Maisey[/name_f] is fine too. I would personally use [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], but it’s fine by itself too.
[name_f]Paige[/name_f] is okay, it would make a lovely middle name [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] on girls so much. I prefer [name_f]Hayleigh[/name_f], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], [name_u]Haley[/name_u] etc.
[name_f]Paige[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Paige[/name_f]. It’s very happy and energetic.
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u] - Not a fan. [name_m]Just[/name_m] one of a thousand of similar “den” names. Sorry!
[name_f]Maisey[/name_f] - I really dislike the sound of it, but if I had to, I’d go with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] spelling.
[name_f]Aryanna[/name_f] - Very close to [name_m]Aryan[/name_m]. Verrry close. Please use [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] spelling if you choose this. The name is lovely, although very trendy.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] - I like it and prefer [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] spelling for the nickname.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Paige[/name_f], least favorite is [name_f]Maisey[/name_f] (the name itself) and [name_f]Aryanna[/name_f] (the negative/offensive associations).
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]: Absolutely not. I know a couple [name_f]Paige[/name_f]'s and all of which do not like there names. It’s unappealing. Sorry.
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]: I really like it. It’s unique and cute, although if you like nicknames out of names probably not the best one.
[name_f]Maisey[/name_f]: Its cute, I think it nice for a girl. Maybe a diferent spelling, like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. Consider the names [name_f]Macie[/name_f], or [name_m]Mace[/name_m].
[name_f]Aryanna[/name_f]: [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like it. But if you do chose it please do not chose this spelling.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]: I really don’t like this name, its outdated and even with all the nicknames it just ends up sounding out of style.
[name_f]Paige[/name_f] - a pretty name that I think is underused.
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u] - This is pretty, but should be paired with a girly nickname in my opinion to balance out the unisex name.
[name_f]Maisey[/name_f] - Super cute name. I think it’s adorable but I’m not bold enough to use it. If you are, then great! Cute with a different (but not weird) spelling.
[name_f]Aryanna[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] is a better spelling. Not my favorite but still a pretty name.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] / [name_f]Lexey[/name_f] / [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] - I love this name! It’s been a favorite for years. It has so many nickname possibilities ([name_u]Lexie[/name_u], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_u]Allie[/name_u], [name_f]Alexa[/name_f], [name_f]Andi[/name_f], etc). I prefer the spelling [name_u]Lexie[/name_u].
Overall, [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisey[/name_f] are my favorites. But I’m also a fan of [name_f]Paige[/name_f]! If you’re looking for combos from these, I like [name_f]Maisey[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f].
Good to hear about your spelling change for [name_f]Arianna[/name_f]! I personally prefer the more streamlined [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] (it just seems more effortlessly feminine and charming to me!), but I agree that [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] is loads better than [name_f]Aryanna[/name_f].
If I could make a couple switches, I think [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] would get my vote. I think they’re both delightful, but [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is by far my favorite. [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], too–it’s just so lovely!
[name_f]Paige[/name_f] is definitely my favorite name you suggested, followed by [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] in a close second! I just think both are such pretty names, & especially when it comes to [name_f]Paige[/name_f] (at least where I live), you don’t hear it very often. [name_f]Paige[/name_f] is actually on my list of top names as well. But honestly, I wouldn’t hesitate to name my daughter either one of these gorgeous names. Based on the fact that you like both of these names, perhaps you would like [name_u]Payden[/name_u] or [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] as well? [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought…
For some reason, I’m just not fond of [name_f]Maisey[/name_f]. One of my co-workers named her daughter [name_f]Maisey[/name_f], & there haven’t really been positive reactions to the choice.
[name_f]My[/name_f] least favorite of the names you listed are [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] & [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]/[name_f]Lexey[/name_f]/[name_u]Lexie[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] is too trendy right now & it seems like so many people are having [name_f]Arianna[/name_f]'s these days. And, in my opinion, all forms of [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] ring very 90’s-trendy to me. I remember loving that name so much back then.
Best wishes to you in your choice! Looking forward to hearing it when you decide!!
[name_f]My[/name_f] order of preference (favourite to least favourite)
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]. I don’t mind the nickname [name_u]Lexi[/name_u], and would spell it this way. [name_f]Lexey[/name_f] looks wrong to me, and the ‘e’ at the end of [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] doesn’t add anything to the name.
[name_f]Arianna[/name_f] or [name_f]Ariana[/name_f]. This sounds very pretty and whimsical, but has the solid nickname of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] built right in, just in case she turns out to be a serious kind of girl. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like the spelling of [name_f]Aryanna[/name_f], so I’m glad you’ve decided against that.
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]. Suitable for a young girl and an adult. I know one [name_f]Paige[/name_f] and she’s lovely, so I think of her loveliness when I think of this name.
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. Spelled this way, not [name_f]Maisey[/name_f]. I’ve seen this used as a middle name quite often, usually to honour someone’s grandmother. I’ve never met a little girl who’s first name is [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], but can absolutely see it working. It might be a bit soft as a full name for an adult though.
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]. To me, this is all boy. Not a fan at all of boys names on girls. Maybe [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]?
The only name you picked that I really don’t like is [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I really don’t like this vintage name trend because I find most of the name options ugly. Also I have a friend who has a dog named [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] so I am sure that doesn’t help.
[name_f]My[/name_f] order:
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_u]Lexi[/name_u] (don’t do that [name_f]Lexey[/name_f] spelling)
[name_f]Arianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_u]Hayden[/name_u]. I think it’s beautiful as a girls name, and isn’t overused.
I also like [name_f]Aryanna[/name_f], and though I do like this spelling I would personally choose [name_f]Ariana[/name_f].
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is nice but keep the [name_u]Lexie[/name_u]'s for the nn. I like the spelling [name_f]Lexy[/name_f].
[name_f]Paige[/name_f] is okay. I’m a bit bored of it though, I know too many Paiges my own age. However I think for a baby to be called that now would be nice.
[name_f]Maisey[/name_f] - way too overused and sickly sweet for my liking. Not a fan of overly girly names. What if she turned out a tomboy?
[name_f]Paige[/name_f] - Cute name!
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u] - No. Definitely not. And for a girl? Really? I absolutely loathe the -ayden rhyming names that are so, so trendy. Alternatives: [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]/[name_u]Haley[/name_u] and [name_u]Haven[/name_u].
[name_f]Maisey[/name_f] - I really like this name either as a nickname for Maiselle or on its own. I prefer [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] or [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Aryanna[/name_f] - [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], [name_f]Arianna[/name_f]. Whether it’s spelled correctly or not, I’m not a fan. I am fond of [name_f]Adriana[/name_f]. I go to school with this girl with the same name (spelled as is) and every time I see her name, I just want to correct it.
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] / [name_f]Lexey[/name_f] / [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] (cant agree on spelling either) - Ooh, [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it’s a pretty common name in my age group where I live. Alternatives: [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f], [name_f]Alejandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f].
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]-----iI like this one best
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]----Never cared for this one, so close to Hoyden
[name_f]Maisey[/name_f]—It is OK, kind of old fashioned/new again
[name_f]Aryanna[/name_f]—[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the way this is spelled, but so not like it said out loud
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] / [name_f]Lexey[/name_f] / [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] ----I like this name it is solid. I would use the [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] spelling or just use [name_u]Lex[/name_u]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], but I detest [name_u]Lexie[/name_u]. [name_f]Paige[/name_f] is my least favorite from your list. I don’t get the appeal. It is just ugly to me.
