We need suggestions- Boys names

We are looking for names that aren’t super common. Our last name is [name]Smith[/name] so we want something that stands out. We really like short names but are open to anything. Here are some of the favorites so far. We are having a hard time agreeing on anything!!!

What do you think of these?

I like [name]Beck[/name]!

[name]Beck[/name]: [name]Beck[/name] [name]Smith[/name] sounds a little curt to me. [name]How[/name] about [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Smith[/name]? You could still use [name]Beck[/name] as a nn. [name]Beck[/name] [name]Smith[/name] also sounds a bit like Blacksmith, but maybe that’s just me

[name]Nash[/name]: [name]Nash[/name] [name]Smith[/name] runs together somewhat. [name]How[/name] do you feel about [name]Asher[/name] nn [name]Ash[/name]?

[name]Atticus[/name]: I like the 3-1 syllable combo with this one, but since [name]Atticus[/name] ends with an -s and [name]Smith[/name] starts with one, it does run together a little. I really love [name]Augustin[/name] [name]Smith[/name] though.

[name]Elias[/name]: same issue as above, but I do love [name]Elias[/name]! [name]How[/name] about just [name]Eli[/name]?

[name]Hudson[/name]: [name]Hudson[/name] [name]Smith[/name] is a little -s heavy as well, but I do like it.

[name]Talon[/name]: works with your last name but I don’t like the whole claw connection. I do like the nn [name]Tal[/name] with [name]Smith[/name] though.

Cado: I love names that end in -o, but for some reason I don’t really like Cado. I think it reminds me too much of [name]Cade[/name]/[name]Caden[/name].

With [name]Smith[/name] I think my favorites are [name]Beckett[/name] or [name]Eli[/name]. Here are a few more ideas…

Names like [name]Beckett[/name] and [name]Hudson[/name]:

Names like [name]Elias[/name]:

Names like [name]Nash[/name]:

Names like [name]Talon[/name]:

Good luck

What about [name]Huon[/name]? It’s pronounced HYOO-on, and I really like it with [name]Smith[/name].

I agree with most everything Olivegreen said…I especially liked her suggestion of [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Smith[/name]! What about [name]Bennett[/name] as well? [name]Bennett[/name] [name]Smith[/name]?

I have to admit I don’t like one-syllable names with [name]Smith[/name]. Maybe [name]Conrad[/name], [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Abram[/name], [name]Ian[/name]/[name]Ivan[/name], [name]Abel[/name], or [name]Lachlan[/name]?

Good luck!

[name]Abraham[/name] nn [name]Abe[/name]
[name]Lincoln[/name] nn [name]Link[/name]

What about a long name that shortens to something short? I think a longer name will be best with [name]Smith[/name], but a short, spunky nickname is always a plus!

[name]Archibald[/name] “[name]Archie[/name]”
[name]Beauregard[/name] “[name]Beau[/name]”
[name]Dashiell[/name] “[name]Dash[/name]”
[name]Elijah[/name] “[name]Eli[/name]”
[name]Frederick[/name] “[name]Freddie[/name]”
[name]Julian[/name] [name]Russell[/name] “J. R.”
[name]Leopold[/name] “[name]Leo[/name]”
[name]Maxwell[/name] “[name]Max[/name]”
[name]Nathaniel[/name] “[name]Niel[/name]”
[name]Oliver[/name] “Oli”
[name]Reginald[/name] “[name]Reggie[/name]”
[name]Sebastian[/name] “[name]Bastian[/name]”
[name]Theodore[/name] “[name]Theo[/name]” “[name]Teddy[/name]”
[name]William[/name] “[name]Liam[/name]”

Take care!

Your original choices aren’t as unusual as you think.

Well, maybe Cado is. Can’t find it in the name dictionary, but we have [name]Cadoc[/name] and [name]Cadogan[/name], which are even more interesting.

Your typo “Huson” made me think of [name]Anson[/name].

A couple of the names suggested are either girls’ names or sound like it (Coriander?)

I hate [name]Gus[/name], really hate - but then I remembered [name]Gus[/name] Grissom, the astronaut whose real name was [name]Virgil[/name] [name]Ivan[/name] Grissom. There’s apparently a judge named [name]Virgil[/name] [name]Smith[/name], and his son of the same name who’s a politician. [name]Don[/name]'t know how familiar those are.

[name]Taliesin[/name] “[name]Tal[/name]” [name]Smith[/name]?

Good luck!

[name]Hi[/name]!

I second [name]Olive[/name]! (I love [name]Olive[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Augustin[/name]!)

More names you may like (or hate):

Names that have some of [name]Talon[/name]'s sounds:

Names that remind me of [name]Atticus[/name] and [name]Elias[/name]:

[name]Lionel[/name] (nn [name]Leo[/name])

Good luck!

You’ve already gotten some great suggestions! I must say I’m also more of a fan of a longer first name with a short and common last name like [name]Smith[/name].

By the by, my favorite from your list was [name]Atticus[/name]! [name]Love[/name] it!

Here’s just a couple more suggestions (hopefully without too many repeats):

[name]Killian[/name] (could call him [name]Leo[/name] or [name]Lian[/name]/[name]Leon[/name])

Good luck!
