We really need help naming girl number two!!!!!

Our first daughter is [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. We [name]DO[/name] NOT want a name that is too popular, but also not too out there. We would like something that is longer, maybe Italian or French (any European sound in general). I also really want a good nn and that is the primary problem withmost of the names on our list. It seems like we have heard everything out there and nothing quit screams “PICK ME!!!” Please help! We would love to hear your suggestions! Also, any good nn’s you might come up with for the listed names would be great!

Names we love but can’t/won’t use…
[name]Isabel[/name] (my favorite but [name]WAY[/name] to popular)
[name]Nora[/name] (my husbabds favorite, he has a hard time even thinking of other names but I don’t really love it)

Names we love but can’t settle on…

We seem to have very similar taste in names

[name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are great names, but yes, too popular right now. I don’t want my little one to be [name]Charlotte[/name] #1 in school ya know?
[name]Vivienne[/name] - I think it’s closely tied w/ “Brangelina” but at the same time, I am willing to use it. I like this spelling best and it feels like a fun, fresh name. I see the popularity increasing though. I’m on the fence about popularity these days. A top 100 name… I really really really have to love it to even think about it. in the top 500 or more, I think I can live with it. [name]Vivian[/name]/[name]Vivienne[/name] is sorta in that place for me. I can live w/ the popularity. Have you consider [name]Viviana[/name]?

[name]Nora[/name]- I like longer names, but [name]Nora[/name] is sweet. [name]How[/name] about [name]Norabel[/name], [name]Honora[/name], [name]Eleanora[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Leonora[/name] and then use [name]Nora[/name] as a nickname?

[name]Scarlett[/name] is a great name. It’s spunky and fun, but also not too out there. It’s a recognizable name and I think people can take it seriously due to it’s famous namesakes. My 8 yr old is named [name]Scarlett[/name]. we have never met another little [name]Scarlett[/name], but the name is getting more popular every year. [name]Scarlett[/name] goes by [name]Carly[/name] – she likes her full/formal name and her nickname. She uses both depending on her mood! (She’s a very independent, sassy little girl!)

[name]Violet[/name] - I prefer it with one T. - A great choice. It’s just about as popular as [name]Scarlett[/name] with a slight less edgy feel to me. It’s more sweet sounding. I’d love to use the name, but [name]Scarlett[/name] & [name]Violet[/name] is just too much

[name]Josephine[/name] - also a good choice, but I think the “ine” is a bit matchy w/ [name]Evangeline[/name].

[name]Penelope[/name] is also a great choice and sounds good w/ your older daughter. [name]Penelope[/name] is my 6 year old’s name. We just met another little [name]Penelope[/name] (2 yrs old), but she goes by [name]Poppy[/name] and mine [name]Penny[/name]. This is our first time meeting someone with the same name.

So, I’d like to suggest a few names. I have to thank other berries because they’ve suggested most of these to me to fit my sib set.

[name]Amelia[/name] (pretty popular)
[name]Eloise[/name] / [name]Eloisa[/name]
[name]Cornelia[/name] / [name]Cordelia[/name]

Here’s some ideas you may like:

If you don’t mind me asking, does [name]Evangeline[/name] have a nickname? If so, what is it?

[name]Evangeline[/name] and (sorry for repeats!)…

[name]Annalise[/name]/[name]Anneliese[/name]/[name]Annelise[/name] nn [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]/[name]Annie[/name]/[name]Elise[/name]

[name]Theodora[/name] nn [name]Thea[/name]/[name]Dora[/name] (although I wouldn’t recommend the later considering the ubiquity of [name]Dora[/name] the [name]Explorer[/name])
[name]Dorothea[/name] nn [name]Thea[/name]/[name]Dottie[/name]
[name]Annabelle[/name] nn [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]/[name]Anne[/name]/[name]Belle[/name]/[name]Bella[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name]/[name]Delia[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name] nn [name]Della[/name]/[name]Lilah[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name] nn [name]Ellie[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name] nn [name]Celia[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]/[name]Adeline[/name]/[name]Adelle[/name] nn [name]Addie[/name]/[name]Della[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] nn [name]Immy[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] nn [name]Lou[/name]/[name]Lulu[/name]
[name]Helena[/name] nn [name]Helen[/name]/[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Lorelei[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name] (too [name]Gilmore[/name] Girls?)
[name]Camille[/name] nn [name]Mila[/name]/[name]Millie[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name]/[name]Rosalie[/name] nn [name]Rose[/name]/[name]Rosie[/name]/[name]Rosa[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] nn [name]Viva[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name] nn [name]Pippa[/name]

From your list, I love the nn [name]Lettie[/name] for [name]Scarlett[/name] or Violett and the nn [name]Josie[/name] for [name]Josephine[/name]

Good luck!

[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is such a gorgeous name! If your husband likes [name]Nora[/name], how about using [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Eleanora[/name]/[name]Elianora[/name] with the nickname [name]Nora[/name]? [name]Eleanor[/name] is getting popular, but [name]Eleanora[/name] is still very underused.

From the names you listed that you’re considering, I think your best bet is [name]Penelope[/name]. [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] are both on the rise and significantly more popular than [name]Evangeline[/name]. [name]Josephine[/name] ends in the same sound/spelling as [name]Evangeline[/name] which is a bit matchy and might lock you in if you have more children. [name]Penelope[/name] is familiar but relatively uncommon, has the wonderful nicknames of [name]Penny[/name], [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Nell[/name] and has that long, flowy sound that [name]Evangeline[/name] has.

I’d like to second crunchymama’s suggestions of [name]Mirabelle[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name]/[name]Dorothea[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are uncommon but familiar, feminine and nicknamable ([name]Mira[/name]/[name]Belle[/name], [name]Dot[/name]/[name]Dotty[/name]/[name]Dora[/name]/[name]Thea[/name], [name]Lou[/name]/[name]Lulu[/name]). Some other names that would go nicely with [name]Evangeline[/name]:

[name]Olympia[/name] ([name]Ollie[/name])
[name]Theodora[/name] ([name]Thea[/name], [name]Teddy[/name], [name]Dora[/name])
[name]Melisande[/name] ([name]Mel[/name], Lissy)
[name]Genevieve[/name] ([name]Genny[/name], [name]Ginny[/name], Vee)
[name]Cecelia[/name] (Ceci, [name]Celia[/name], [name]Seeley[/name])
[name]Arabella[/name] ([name]Ari[/name], [name]Ara[/name], [name]Bella[/name])
[name]Beatrix[/name] ([name]Bee[/name], [name]Trix[/name]/[name]Trixie[/name])
[name]Christabel[/name] ([name]Chris[/name], [name]Christa[/name], [name]Bel[/name])
[name]Rosemary[/name] ([name]Rosie[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Romy[/name])
[name]Adelaide[/name] ([name]Addy[/name], [name]Del[/name], Lady)
[name]Matilda[/name] ([name]Mattie[/name], [name]Tilly[/name], [name]Tilda[/name])
Magdelena ([name]Maggie[/name], [name]Del[/name], [name]Lena[/name])
[name]Persephone[/name] (Persie, [name]Effy[/name], [name]Peri[/name])
[name]Georgiana[/name] ([name]Georgie[/name], [name]Gigi[/name] - if prn. jor-[name]JAY[/name]-nuh, [name]Jay[/name] and [name]Janie[/name], if prn. jor-gee-[name]AH[/name]-nuh, [name]Gia[/name] and [name]Giana[/name])

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

Lol, that’s pretty funny crunchymama. [name]Annabelle[/name] is also on my list (my sister’s name is [name]Anna[/name] and we are leaning towards A names.) I also agree about in “ine” in [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name] and would consider [name]Josephina[/name] to help minimize that similarity.

I forgot to mention [name]Adelaide[/name]. My mom recently suggested it and I really like it but DH isn’t too keen ( yet, at least. He didn’t like [name]Evangeline[/name] at first either.)

Any E names are out of the question. DH is [name]Aaron[/name], I am [name]Emily[/name], [name]Evie[/name] is 2, and our dog is [name]Ellie[/name]. That also rules out any [name]Emmaline[/name], [name]Amelia[/name]…anything too close to [name]Emily[/name]. We like the idea of an A name to ballance. Two E’s and two A’s.

We call [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Evie[/name], but there are TONS of nn’s for it. [name]Eve[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Angie[/name], [name]Angeline[/name], [name]Evan[/name], [name]Angel[/name], [name]Lina[/name], and the one I hate to even mention…[name]Vangie[/name].

[name]Hi[/name], Here are two more for consideration: [name]Francesca[/name] and [name]Antoinette[/name]

Some A names for [name]Evangeline[/name]'s sister :
[name]Adelina[/name] (as well as [name]Adelaide[/name], of course) - [name]Adele[/name], [name]Addie[/name], [name]Della[/name], [name]Lina[/name]
[name]Alessandra[/name] - [name]Allie[/name], [name]Sandy[/name], [name]Essa[/name], [name]Essie[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name] (but, I think there’s an allergy medicine in the US bearing this name) - [name]Allie[/name]
[name]Alondra[/name] - [name]Allie[/name]
[name]Amadea[/name] - [name]Ama[/name], [name]Amy[/name], [name]Maddie[/name], Dea
[name]Amandine[/name] - [name]Ama[/name], [name]Amy[/name], [name]Mandy[/name]
[name]Amaranta[/name] - [name]Ama[/name], [name]Amy[/name]
[name]Annunziata[/name] - [name]Annie[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name], or maybe [name]Antoinette[/name]/a - [name]Annie[/name], [name]Toni[/name], [name]Etta[/name]
[name]Apolline[/name] - [name]Polly[/name], [name]Lina[/name]
[name]Aurelia[/name]/[name]Aurelie[/name] - [name]Lia[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] - [name]Rory[/name].

If you like [name]Isabel[/name] you might like [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Isolde[/name]/a and Isola, too.

Good luck! [name]Auburn[/name]

[name]Anastasia[/name] ([name]Ana[/name], [name]Annie[/name], [name]Stasia[/name], [name]Tansy[/name])
[name]Marguerite[/name] ([name]Margo[/name], [name]Meg[/name], [name]Greta[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Ree[/name])
[name]Alexandria[/name] ([name]Alex[/name], [name]Alexa[/name], [name]Annie[/name], [name]Lex[/name], [name]Andria[/name], Andry, Dria)
[name]Alessandra[/name] (Sandry, [name]Allie[/name], [name]Annie[/name], [name]Les[/name], [name]Alice[/name])
[name]Luciana[/name] ([name]Lucy[/name], Chichi, [name]Cia[/name], [name]Annie[/name])
[name]Violetta[/name] ([name]Vi[/name], [name]Ollie[/name], [name]Letty[/name], [name]Etty[/name])
[name]Viviana[/name] ([name]Vivi[/name], [name]Viv[/name], [name]Via[/name], [name]Annie[/name])
[name]Anamaria[/name] ([name]Ana[/name], [name]Annie[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Maria[/name], [name]Mamie[/name], [name]Molly[/name], [name]Mimi[/name])

I’m sorry it’s such a short list, I tried:)
