We thought girl names were difficult..

The father of my child and I are not having a great time with this. We found out a few days ago that I am 4 months pregnant, and being the name lover I am this is the FIRST thing I thought about. This is not as much fun as Id imagined!

[name_m]Harry[/name_m]
[name_m]Preston[/name_m]

Okay. [name_m]Burke[/name_m]/[name_m]Berk[/name_m]…
I love the name [name_m]Burke[/name_m]. We had a coworker named [name_m]Burke[/name_m] for awhile, but he is now in brazil. I loooove the name. He hated the guy. His favorite movie is “[name_m]How[/name_m] to train your dragon” and they live in [name_m]Berk[/name_m]. So Im trying to see if I can win [name_m]Burke[/name_m] over with this!

i like [name_m]Berk[/name_m] it’s a more unique name. I like [name_m]Berk[/name_m] than [name_m]Burke[/name_m] since it’s spelled the way since it’s a little more simple and easier to understand than [name_m]Burke[/name_m].

From your (shared) list I love

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] - I mostly prefer longer/formal versions, too, but I can tolerate [name_m]Leo[/name_m] on its own. I think it has so much character it doesn’t really need anything else.
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] - One of a few “ley” boy names that feel masculine enough.
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - Beyond handsome! Maybe he changes his mind?..
[name_m]Beau[/name_m] - Easy yet strong.
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] - Cool. It’s just so cool. I adore it.

Try

[name_u]Finley[/name_u]/[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] (Instead of [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m].)
[name_m]Cassius[/name_m]/[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] (Instead of [name_m]Caspian[/name_m].)
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] (Instead of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m].)
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]/[name_m]Leonard[/name_m]/[name_u]Lionel[/name_u]/[name_m]Leonidas[/name_m]/[name_m]Leopold[/name_m] (As a way to get [name_m]Leo[/name_m].)

Ok you have some great names on your lists!

I love [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m], [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_m]Deveraux[/name_m], [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Jethro[/name_m], [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] (with a longer version), [name_m]Beau[/name_m] and [name_u]Destry[/name_u].

There HAS to be a name you both like in there somewhere?

RE: [name_m]Berk[/name_m] - I know you are in USA so this probably isn’t relevant, but it’s a nasty word in the UK. Here’s the explanation if you’re interested: (though WARNING contains vulgar language!) Urban Dictionary: berk

These are two good lists, I’m sure that there is common ground here. The most likely for cross-over I would’ve thought are [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], [name_m]Miles[/name_m] and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]. One thing that struck me is that [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m] is on your list and [name_m]Heath[/name_m] would probably fit in quite easily to his- maybe that could be a compromise?

Also want to second the pp’s comment about [name_m]Burke[/name_m]/[name_m]Berk[/name_m] in the UK. It might not bother you if you have no ties to here but it is an insult, like calling someone a jerk (with which it also rhymes- that might be something else to consider)

Oh dear… Okay [name_m]Berk[/name_m] is now off the list!! Lol
I tried [name_m]Heath[/name_m] by itself, he thinks it’s “funny to say”
Right now we only seem to agree on [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]… I just can’t see this baby being an [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]…

[name_m]Wesley[/name_m], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], and [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] are so cute to me!

Congratulations!

Names I love for you:

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Albus[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Claudius[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]

[name_m]Leopold[/name_m] [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]

[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Claudius[/name_m], [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Julius[/name_m], [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]

Also:

[name_m]Beau[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_u]Destry[/name_u], Devereux, [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m], [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]

Have you considered using one from his “I love” list and one from your “I love” list…I think [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m] or [name_m]Tanner[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] sound nice, among a few others.

However, I will add that of all of the names you listed [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is my favorite, I absolutely adore it!

I thin both of your lists are slid but honestly [name_m]Berk[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] popped into my head as soon as I finished reading. I saw [name_m]Berk[/name_m] and though of HTTYD (also the 2nd movie is coming out this summer so it would be timely). If you don’t life in the UK don’t nix the name because it has a different meaning there. There is really no saying that you or your child will ever live in the UK and it would be a shame to nix a name you both would probably love because of that.

love pp suggestion of Ender as well and think that [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] is so incredibly handsome (screw the serial killer thing). Maybe [name_u]Rex[/name_u] or [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] would be to your guys liking as well.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites:
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] - A very strong and attractive name. Have you considered [name_u]Orion[/name_u]?
[name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] - Literary and fun to say.
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - One of my favorite names, but a bit popular these days.
[name_u]Roy[/name_u] - I’m biased because of a relative, but I love this name.
[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] - [name_u]Max[/name_u], like [name_u]Roy[/name_u], is short, vintage and fun.
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m] - Like [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], it just sounds classy.
