We want more boys' names!

We are looking for boys’ names! Our last name is [name]Fallon[/name] so we would like names that sound good with that…
Restrictions:
We like names like [name]Calvin[/name] or [name]Malcolm[/name], but they are too rhymey… (i.e. [name]Calvin[/name] [name]Fallon[/name])
We like names like [name]Alastair[/name], [name]Albert[/name], or [name]Calder[/name], but the nicknames are too rhymey ([name]Al[/name] or [name]Cal[/name] [name]Fallon[/name])
My husband likes names that are traditionally first names… no repurposing last names (No [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Gallagher[/name], [name]Auden[/name], etc. although you’ll see he is willing to consider some names that don’t fit that restriction…)

We’d like feedback on the names we’ve got so far, (opinions about them individually! which 1st and middle do you like together?) Or additional 1st names you think we might like!

So far the first names we like are:
[name]Ambrose[/name] (but worried that there are no good nicknames)
[name]Amias[/name] (worried that there are no good nicknames)
[name]Clive[/name] (short enough it doesn’t need a nickname)
[name]Clyde[/name] (short enough it doesn’t need a nickname)
[name]Ernest[/name] (don’t really like [name]Ernie[/name]… but bert or bertie…)
[name]Gilbert[/name] ([name]Gil[/name], [name]Bert[/name], or [name]Bertie[/name])
[name]Hartley[/name] ([name]Hart[/name] or [name]Lee[/name]… but worried about kids at school calling him Fartley! Is this concern real enough to not use a name we love?)
Zeller (was my grandmother’s last name… [name]Zel[/name], [name]Ziggy[/name], or [name]Zeke[/name])

The middle names we like are:

[name]Adair[/name]
[name]Amery[/name]
[name]Amias[/name]
[name]Berkeley[/name] (after my parents who met in [name]Berkeley[/name])
Carr (after my brother and grandfather)
Carraway (twist on my brother and grandfather’s name)
[name]Galloway[/name]
[name]Gramercy[/name] (after my two best friends)
[name]Julius[/name] (after my other grandfather)
[name]Keene[/name] (honoring our two mothers … his mother’s fn is kathleen, my mother’s mn is eileen… together = [name]Keene[/name])
[name]Lee[/name]
[name]Lorenzo[/name] (honoring my mother [name]Laura[/name])
[name]Mars[/name] (Honoring me! my name…)
[name]Rece[/name] (honoring my other brother)
[name]Russell[/name] (honoring my dad… his mn)
[name]Walsh[/name] (honoring his mother’s maiden name)
Zeller (honoring my paternal grandmother’s maiden name)

So far, our top three combinations are:
[name]Hartley[/name] [name]Amias[/name] [name]Fallon[/name]
Zeller [name]Keene[/name] [name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Clyde[/name]/[name]Clive[/name] (haven’t made up our mind) [name]Gramercy[/name] [name]Fallon[/name]

What do you think Berries? Boys names sure are HARD!

I love [name]Clive[/name]! [name]Clive[/name] [name]Gramercy[/name] [name]Fallon[/name] sounds really handsome. I think [name]Hartley[/name] [name]Amias[/name] [name]Fallon[/name] sounds really nice. I laughed when you mentioned Fartley, but I don’t think it would really present a problem. I think [name]Ambrose[/name] is a cool name, but like you hesitant because it’s a big name with no good nickname options. I think it would work great as a middle name. [name]Clive[/name] [name]Ambrose[/name] sounds great imo.

I like [name]Clyde[/name] [name]Gramercy[/name].

I think I secretly prefer [name]Clay[/name] to either [name]Clyde[/name] or [name]Clive[/name] though. Is [name]Clay[/name] an option?

Zeller [name]Keene[/name] [name]Fallon[/name] is so surname-y, that, while each is a pleasant name, it sounds vaguely like a law firm rather than one person’s name.

I do adore [name]Ambrose[/name] but it is difficult to use well. Maybe a MN? [name]Keene[/name] [name]Ambrose[/name] would be striking and [name]Keene[/name], if I’m reading it right, is not going to create a “which [name]Keene[/name]?” effect, even though its a (cool) honouring name.

I prefer just [name]Hart[/name] to [name]Hartley[/name], I think.

More boys name suggestions that work with [name]Fallon[/name]:

[name]Bertram[/name]
[name]Oswald[/name]
[name]Aloysius[/name]
[name]Rupert[/name]
[name]Armand[/name]
[name]Alec[/name]
[name]Basil[/name]
[name]Cyril[/name]
[name]Gerard[/name]
[name]Archibald[/name]
[name]Clement[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name]
[name]Sylvester[/name]
[name]Philo[/name]
[name]Harald[/name]

You have a very cool and interesting list:

I like [name]Gilbert[/name] [name]Keene[/name], [name]Hartley[/name] Zeller, and Zeller [name]Walsh[/name].

I also like [name]Russell[/name] because it is your dad’s MN. Maybe [name]Gilbert[/name] [name]Russell[/name] or [name]Ernest[/name] [name]Russell[/name]?

I think I’d go with [name]Ernest[/name] [name]Berkeley[/name] or [name]Gilbert[/name] [name]Adair[/name].

I think [name]Clyde[/name] may still have some negative connotations from [name]Bonnie[/name] and [name]Clyde[/name], so I think that [name]Clive[/name] is the preferable one of those two.

Oooh! [name]Love[/name] all the suggestions! [name]Ernest[/name] [name]Berkeley[/name], [name]Gilbert[/name] [name]Adair[/name], [name]Gilbert[/name] [name]Russell[/name] and using [name]Keene[/name] as a first name! [name]Love[/name] it!

I love [name]Ambrose[/name]. To me it’s effortlessly cool & it doesn’t need a nickname. At least it’s only 2 syllables. I think it sounds best in the combo [name]Ambrose[/name] [name]Julius[/name].
[name]Gramercy[/name] is cool too.

Our 6 month old son’s name is [name]Clive[/name]!!! I’ve never even heard of anyone else considering it for their baby until this week when I met a mom in Target with her 1 year old named [name]Clive[/name] too. I’m SO worried it’s going to become popular! But solid awesome name and we always get compliments on it.

Well there have already been some great suggestions. In case you would like more:

Have you considered [name]Abe[/name] as a nickname for [name]Ambrose[/name]? I think that might be my favorite of your choices.

Never considered [name]Abe[/name]! It’s great! Maybe [name]Bo[/name] would work too!

[name]Ambrose[/name] Carraway [name]Fallon[/name] with the nn Bro  I mean, what boy wouldn’t love to be called Bro? It’s actually a cool term to use now

[name]Ambrose[/name] Carraway sounds great! I love all these suggestions!

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clyde[/name] [name]Russell[/name] and [name]Amias[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name]! Thanks!
