We have 2 boys named [name]John[/name] and [name]James[/name]. We know for sure if this one’s a boy we want to go with [name]Jude[/name], but we cannot decide if the middle name should be [name]Allen[/name] (after my middle name of [name]Allyn[/name]) or [name]Oliver[/name]. We’re having a bit more trouble narrowing down the girls list. Here goes:
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name]…nicknames we like best are [name]Evie[/name] [name]Grace[/name], [name]Evie[/name], and [name]Eve[/name].
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Allyn[/name] (is [name]Grace[/name] just too popular?! It goes so nicely with our last name of Coughey, prounouced co-ee…sounds kind of like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Kelly[/name])
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Opal[/name] ([name]Opal[/name] after my Grandmother’s middle name)

[name]How[/name] about [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Allyn[/name]? I also like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Allyn[/name]. Maybe even [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Grace[/name]?
[name]Alyss[/name] (like “[name]Alice[/name]”) [name]Vivien[/name] Coughy? You still get that “ss” sound at the end. It also pays tribute to your middle name in a way (spelling).
[name]Evangeline[/name] is nice because a variety of nicknames can be created. [name]Eve[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Evan[/name], [name]Angel[/name], [name]Ellen[/name], etc.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] is classic and old-fashioned. There are nicknames like: [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Ellis[/name], [name]Elie[/name], [name]Liz[/name], [name]Beth[/name], etc. [name]Abby[/name] even (I’ve heard this before, quite uncommon of a nickname out of this one).
[name]Violet[/name] sounds delicate and it would be refreshing on a class list.
I’m not sure about “[name]Scarlett[/name] Coughey.” Food for thought: Written down, without knowing how to pronounce the last name - I would automatically think it sounds like a symptom of something I caught earlier in the week.
[name]Opal[/name] is unique. You may also consider the alternatives: [name]Opaline[/name]. Or even the word: Opalescence as a strong middle.
I like [name]Evangeline[/name] more of a MN with a short FN. So maybe [name]Grace[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]. My favorite FN for [name]Evangeline[/name] is [name]Claire[/name].
And I agree with holst on [name]Opaline[/name]. I love that name. <3
[name]Opal[/name] is beautiful, you’re lucky to have it as a family name! That said, I think it would be nice in the middle spot and would go well with all of your names, but best with [name]Evangeline[/name] or [name]Grace[/name]. Evangelinework with [name]John[/name] and [name]James[/name] but it is a bit long is a bit long… maybe you’d like [name]Eva[/name] or [name]Eliza[/name]?
I think [name]Grace[/name] goes best with your sibset-- the other names seem really different from your traditional boys’ names. I like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Allyn[/name] or [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Grace[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] from your list. Other suggestions are [name]Grace[/name] [name]Irene[/name], and [name]Grace[/name] [name]Clementine[/name]. [name]Hi[/name] [name]Tara[/name], I love the name [name]Violet[/name] although combined with [name]Elizabeth[/name] it reminds me of the lisping spoiled character in the [name]Just[/name] [name]William[/name] books (“I’ll scream and I’ll scream and I’ll scream!”), although that might be just an English reference!

Unfortunately I don’t feel any closer to narrowing the list down (partly because after reading all of the interesting comments I found new things to love/question about each name)…but I have until the first week of [name]October[/name] to figure it out. [name]Jude[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] sounds a lot sounds nicer to me than [name]Jude[/name] [name]Allen[/name], and I usually hate [name]Oliver[/name]. I love [name]John[/name], [name]James[/name], and [name]Jude[/name] together.
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is very pretty. [name]Evie[/name] is my favorite nickname for it and sounds so fresh. [name]Eve[/name] isn’t cute to me, and [name]Evie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] sounds a little try-hard as an everyday nickname, but is cute as a pet name inside the family.
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]- A bit trendy with [name]Violet[/name], but still a great choice. [name]Love[/name] this combination.
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Allyn[/name]- I actually love the name [name]Grace[/name], but not with Coughey, sorry… it sounds too much like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Kelly[/name], and that’s a lot for a little girl to live up to. What if she wasn’t pretty? That would be rough.
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Opal[/name]- Really like [name]Scarlett[/name], especially the combination [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Opal[/name]. A hard name to have for a less-than-cute girl, though, again.
