Welcome baby bladette

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all–

I was a very active member of the forums (fora?) here until [name_f]July[/name_f], when I was essentially told I would be fired if my Principal Investigator saw me on the site any more. As it’s not my style to post dramatic self-absorbed farewells, I faded gently into that good night. I hope you’re all doing well.

On [name_m]Saturday[/name_m], 11.30.13, we welcomed our daughter: [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f].

[name_f]Cassia[/name_f] was named for St [name_f]Cassia/name_f, a brilliant Byzantine musical scholar and theologian. She is a pretty inspiring namesake: she’s one of the few women of her day who actually made a mark on Christianity, and chose a life as a scholar and abbess after being turned down for marriage by the emperor because she outsmarted him. Kassia - Wikipedia

[name_f]Viviane[/name_f] was chosen as the [name_m]French[/name_m] form of [name_f]Viviana[/name_f], who is the patron saint of Los [name_f]Angeles[/name_f]. We also quite liked the meaning: ‘life, lively.’ Our son’s middle name, [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], was given because [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] the Archangel is the patron saint of the city in which he was born (Seattle), and we wanted a subtle connection between the two children’s names.

[name_f]Noor[/name_f] is an Arabic name we have long loved; it means “light.” There were two famous Noors who serve as good namesakes: [name_f]Noor[/name_f] Inayat Khan, a true hero of the [name_m]French[/name_m] Resistance and the most successful female spy of WWII, and [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f] of [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], who modernized and breathed life into her husband’s kingdom.

Oh, Bladey, congrats! You chose a wonderfully beautiful name for your little girl - but there was never a doubt about that was there? Simply stunning. I love the reasons for choosing your daughter’s names, they’re so meaningful and special.

I hope you’re all having a lovely time with your new little bundle, that [name_u]Antoine[/name_u] is enjoying having a little sister, and I hope you’re doing well. I’ve missed your beautifully written sentences, well reasoned opinions, cleverness and caring over the past few months, but I understand your absence. Much love and joy coming to you from [name_u]London[/name_u] xox

Congrats to you and your family on the safe arrival of your second child, [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] [name_f]Viviane[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f]. Your daughter has some wonderful namesakes. I’m glad to hear that everyone is well. Many Berries were worried when you disappeared so suddenly. I’m relieved to hear that you’re all fine. Have a wonderful holiday with hubby, [name_u]Antoine[/name_u] and [name_f]Cassia[/name_f].

Beautiful! Congrats! Good to see you back ( even just for a post!)

Congratulations [name_m]Blade[/name_m]! It is so nice to hear from you, thank you for sharing your daughter’s breathtaking name with us. [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] is beautiful on it’s own but the history and the middle choices take it to a whole new level. I love the [name_f]Viviane[/name_f]/[name_m]Raphael[/name_m] connection between the siblings. I hope [name_u]Antoine[/name_u] is enjoying his new big brother role and everyone is incredibly happy. All the best! =]

Hey [name_m]Blade[/name_m], I miss your common logic and good sense. Congratulations! I don’t remember [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] on your list, but it’s a beautiful name. The middles names are great, [name_f]Noor[/name_f] is on my list.
