welcoming our first blessing! Any name suggestions?

hello!

Since I posted on the boy forum Ill post here too! I just found out I was pregnant not too long ago. I am a first time mommy with absolutely no idea where to begin with names. I have seen how creative and unique so many of you are on this forum. We have no idea the gender but I wanted to start the process of coming up with names. . He is hispanic and would prefer something that sounds well both in English and Spanish.

I don’t like names that begin with the letters I or E. Our last name rhymes with “shoe”.

some names husband likes:

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]

Names I am fond of at the moment:

[name_f]Gianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]- (love the name but my brother in law has a step daughter with this name)

I know this isn’t much to go off of. But, we appreciate anything you suggest and / or any first middle name combos?

I love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but it is super popular, so I’m not sure if that bothers you.
My first thought was [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] - it gives the same vibe as the names you have listed above.

[name_f]Adela[/name_f]*
[name_f]Alana[/name_f]**
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f] - since you love [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f], maybe you’ll like [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] :). It may still be too close so maybe [name_f]Alexia[/name_f]?

[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Sara[/name_f]*
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]

My three favourites for you are [name_f]Alana[/name_f], [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Micaela[/name_f]. I feel that these names fit with the two slightly different styles that you and your husband have. They have the romantic and girly feel that [name_f]Gianna[/name_f] and [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] hold, as well as being common and versatile like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f].

I also really really love [name_f]Adela[/name_f], [name_f]Lara[/name_f] and [name_f]Sara[/name_f] for you too :).

Good luck and hope this helps!!

Combos:

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]

[name_f]Leandra[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] was the first name that came to mind for you. I think it’s a good middle ground between the names you and your DH like. You could use [name_f]Gia[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Gianna[/name_f] and that sounds similar to some names your DH likes. With your last name, I’d stay away from names ending in -cia or with an S-sound. The double SH sound doesn’t work too well.

Some other possiblities:

[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Bettina[/name_f]
[name_f]Carlotta[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Pamela[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]

Thanks for the wonderful suggestions!!

I love [name_f]Alana[/name_f] and [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] and hadn’t given it much thought.I am going for that romantic/ girly feel.

My husband doesn’t seem to be the biggest fan of [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]. We can both agree we love [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].

If you have any recommendations on middle names to pair nicely with these our last name is Cano. I appreciate this so much!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] in my opinion it’s the best combination. But I can’t get over the fact we do see my brother in law’s step daughter often and this is her first name.

Any combinations you recommend with [name_f]Gianna[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] as first names? I love the nick name [name_f]Gia[/name_f] and [name_f]Gigi[/name_f]. I like a romantic and feminine feel. Our last name is Cano so if anything comes to mind that flows nicely and sounds well in English and Spanish it would be a HUGE help!

Thanks!!

You have a lovely list! Based on the names you have included in it, I think that your style is lush, elegant, and feminine, while popular and recognizable across cultures. I would also describe your style as both current and classic, as all the names you like are quite popular at the moment but also have a long history of use. To your question from above, my favorite middle names for [name_f]Gianna[/name_f] are [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Clarisse[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], and [name_f]Belen[/name_f], with my semi-guilty favorite combination being [name_f]Gianna[/name_f] [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]. My favorites from other commenters are [name_f]Luisa[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Silvia[/name_f], and [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]. Maybe you would consider…

[name_f]Amara[/name_f] - When I saw [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f], I immediately thought of this. It is used in cultures from all over the world, and would be easily pronounceable in Spanish. It is gaining momentum in terms of popularity, and I find it truly exquisite.

[name_f]Mariana[/name_f]-- [name_u]Royal[/name_u], historical, and with Spanish origin.

[name_f]Frida[/name_f]- Beautiful, Spanish-friendly name with a long history of use and a host of incredible namesakes.

[name_f]Miranda[/name_f]/[name_f]Mira[/name_f]- A name with a lovely meaning, ties to literature and art, and such a beautiful sound.

[name_f]Adelina[/name_f]/[name_f]Analia[/name_f]- With the “[name_m]Ad[/name_m]-” and “[name_u]Adel[/name_u]-” names being so popular right now, this would be a lovely, modern choice with history and a romantic twist. “An-” names are quite in as well, and this Spanish twist is quite striking.

[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]/[name_f]Gabriela[/name_f]- Lively and popular, yet strong and classy.

[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]/[name_f]Esperanza[/name_f]- Two long, elegant, and gorgeously Spanish options.

[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]- A rising yet still-unexpected choice with a wonderful symbolism and a swoon-worthy sound.

[name_f]Viviana[/name_f]: Vibrant, elegant, bright feminine, and strong, with Spanish flair and cross-cultural appeal. Plus, it sounds lovely with your last name.

From my list, my top choice is [name_f]Viviana[/name_f]. From yours, I love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. Best of luck, and happy hunting!

WOW!!
Thank you so much for all of your lovely recommendations. To be honest you have my style spot on! lol

I am not a fan of [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] as there was a girl in school I could not stand with this name. Nonetheless, it is beautiful. I will definitely run all these names by husband and post on here with what we decide on.

Girls names are soooo hard. However if we have a boy we are settled on [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m]
