My last name is Jewish and is akin to Silverstein or Greenstein but not the same. I’m not looking for a particularly Jewish name. What I’m not looking for: a name this is so non-Jewish or ethnic that it seems weird with my last name, a name that sounds like the kid has a trust fund, a name that is long or complex since my last name is kinda of long, a name that given to my kid will likely mean there are 1-3 in his daycare or classes, a name that is super unique or too too a-typical.
Here’s what I have so far but nothing has stood out as the one, at least for more than a week:
Not sure I love any of these or even like a lot all of these. Somehow they got on my list though! So thoughts on these or, if just to give you a sense of my style or thoughts, any ones that come to mind that you think I might like.
I like almost all of your names-- [name]Mitchell[/name] I’d probably use as a mn unless it has a special meaning for you and [name]William[/name] is very popular so again, maybe a good mn.
I really like a 1 syllable name especially with the last name being a little long. I think I like graham the best. [name]Max[/name] is adorable but I feel like there will be 10 of those in his class!
What about [name]Chase[/name], or something from nameberrys “cool” names list? Some are way too trendy but others are short and sweet.
Not at all-- [name]Asher[/name] is shooting up the charts in popularity. Whereas it was once an exclusively Jewish name, nowadays the majority of young Ashers are non-Jewish. It does have a softer, gentler masculinity, and strikes the right balance between bookish and rugged.
I like [name]Asher[/name] and though I have never met one, I know 2 people that have recently had baby boy’s named [name]Asher[/name]. (one Jewish, 1 [name]Christian[/name]).
I also really like [name]Ben[/name], [name]Max[/name] and [name]Levi[/name]…they are all great names. I am also 32 weeks with the same issue, lots of great names but no stand outs! Good [name]Luck[/name] to you!
[name]Asher[/name] appears to be a top Nameberry pick but still is relatively low in terms of overall popularity and use in the US. Though it has still skyrocketed. [name]Do[/name] you think there’s a chance in the next few years that it’ll be a top 5 or 10 nationally on the SS list? I’d probably want to avoid that, but all is good if it is 50 or below.
[name]Nolan[/name] and [name]Spencer[/name] are cute too, from the other suggestions. [name]Will[/name] take another close look at that list. Appreciate it!
I do not think [name]Asher[/name] will be mega-popular. It’s the good kind of popular-- it’s used enough such that people will no longer say “huh? [name]Ashley[/name]?” when they hear it.
[name]Glad[/name] you like [name]Nolan[/name] and [name]Spencer[/name]! Let us know your thoughts as they evolve.
I love a lot of the names on your list. I don’t think you need to worry about [name]Asher[/name] breaking into the top 10.
