I’m dreaming of possible future babies, probably won’t happen for us but I can dream!! So, our daughter’s have welsh names but we call them by nicknames that are the meanings of those names: [name]Seren[/name] ([name]Star[/name]) and Eirlys ([name]Snowdrop[/name]). So I was wondering if you could think of any welsh boys or girls names that have meanings that would work as nicknames? I’m particularly struggling to find boys names. The other option is that as the girls have irish gaelic middles that we reverse that for any boys? Gaelic first with Welsh middle? Nickname being the meaning of the gaelic first name.
I don’t really understand. Your daughters are called [name]Seren[/name] and Eirlys but you nickname them the English meanings; [name]Star[/name] and [name]Snowdrop[/name]? is that right?
Aderyn is such a lovely name with such a lovely meaning.
If the [name]Duke[/name] and Duchess of Cambridge ever was to honor [name]Wales[/name] in their child’s name, I hope they’d use Aderyn for a girl. It’s really underrated (can’t understand why it isn’t even listed as a name here). Sorry for going off track
Thankyou for the input. Yes renrose that is right. We are looking for Welsh/Gaelic names with English meanings that would make a nickname that is actually useable! I do like Aderyn - [name]Birdie[/name] would be cute! I do like Awel/[name]Breeze[/name] for a boy too. Thanks
