I voted for [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] as it’s my favourite of your three suggestions, but I’m not a huuuge fan of it. Of your other suggestions, I love [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f], [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], and [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. [name_f]Cay[/name_f] is lovely, by the way!

Other suggestions:

[name_u]Billie[/name_u] [name_f]Cay[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f]
Mabli [name_f]Cay[/name_f]
Thuza [name_f]Cay[/name_f]

What do you think

Definitely [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the middle name but don’t like the other two first names at all.

[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are lovely!!

[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] could be [name_u]Billie[/name_u], [name_f]Sibby[/name_f], [name_f]Essie[/name_f], [name_f]Lil[/name_f].
I also like [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]!

I like [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Mira[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] from your other options.

Thanks for the feedback so far! [name_m]Just[/name_m] to clarify, I listed the other names to give examples of our style in case people wanted to give other suggestions, but we’ve definitely decided against them in favor of [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. Our arguments against them are either that they are too popular/common ([name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]), too similar to other names that are ([name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Mira[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]), too out there ([name_f]Thisbe[/name_f], [name_u]Haven[/name_u]), or one of us likes it more than the other (husband loves [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and I think it’s just okay/nice, I love [name_f]Helena[/name_f] and he thinks it’s just okay/nice).

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] is beautiful!

I truly adore all your options. I voted [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. I think it’s such a strong, quirky name. Yes it’s serious… But also, I can see it being quite playful. If you’re nickname people, she’ll get a nickname. I wouldn’t worry about that.
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] is lovely. I don’t associate it with cats even a little.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is lovely. The nickname options are so sweet. I don’t think it’s overly tied to this generation but if it is… Better to be tied to her generation than a different one. I wouldn’t want people to hear my name and think I’m 25 years older or younger than I am. My middle child has a very of this era name… I don’t love that it’s so tied to the time he was born… But I do love his name and that’s more important.

Good luck. Congratulations on you baby girl!

Congrats on your little girl! [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] is my favorite from your top three. However, I think that [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] is a BEAUTIFUL name.

I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] however I voted for [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] as I think this is a striking combination that flows really well

Wow, thank you for this well-thought-out argument for [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]/[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f]! I almost teared up when you said “your daughter will be beautifully named” - our daughter! we’re going to have a daughter! [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] has actually been our frontrunner for years - old favorite of mine and we went to Greece for our honeymoon and visited [name_f]Delphi[/name_f], world capital of sibyls! My husband’s name is actually [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] (not after the book - it’s a family name for him), so I had thought about the fact that it’s kind of funny for us to name our daughter another character from the Wilde book, which is one of my favorites, too ([name_u]Dorian[/name_u], ironically or maybe defiantly, has never read it). I don’t think enough people know all the characters for it to be weird, though. [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are names we have come to more recently, my husband especially. We recently got baptized in the Episcopal church and kind of like the [name_m]Christian[/name_m] history of [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is so lovely and with such numerous and delightful nicknames. But we’ll see if they can ultimately withstand [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. Thanks for the reminder of the [name_f]Sistine[/name_f] Chapel sibyls - that’s a nice association.

Thank you! You’re right that being of its generation is not the worst thing in the world - I just have a name that is VERY identifiably of the '80s and so I’m sensitive to the issue. I like my name, but wish it was a little more timeless.

I was stuck between [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] but @jonquil’s lovely post convinced me on [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. I agree with everything she said! [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is nms but not a bad name. [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] got my vote!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Congrats on your girl! I’ve never seen [name_f]Cay[/name_f] spelled this way, but it’s pretty cool.

Here are my thoughts on your top three:

[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]-This isn’t normally my style, but I like how it has special meaning. I don’t think it’s too serious? I do get what you’re saying though. It’s hard to picture on a little kid.

[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]-I like it. It’s recognizable yet unique. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a fun name that you don’t hear a lot. I actually know a little [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] (just the one) who generally goes by [name_f]Tabby[/name_f]. They’re not huge cat people, but they kind of have fun w/the [name_f]Tabby[/name_f] cat thing with pictures & toys.

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]-I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]! This is my favorite. It’s so feminine & playful. I think it’s lovely & classic for an adult too. I like the nn Fliss.

And the others…

[name_f]Amy[/name_f]-This is fine. It seems a little dated, but not bad. [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] doesn’t sound too great.

[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]-This is not a name that I generally would care for, but it’s sort of fun. I’ve never heard it much. It’s certainly unique. [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] is pretty.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f]-I really like it, but girl names that end in ‘la’ are kind of over done in general.

[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]-Aw, I adore this. Different yet simple. Strong and feminine. [name_f]Mira[/name_f] & [name_f]Miri[/name_f] are sweets nns.

[name_f]Helena[/name_f]-Meh, I don’t care for this. I think it’s the ‘hell’ part. Although, I love the name [name_m]Cillian[/name_m], so go figure. Also, the fact that this has two pronunciations would be confusing.

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]-This is not my favorite. I think it’s weird that it’s a word spelled [name_u]Noel[/name_u], but then that spelling looks like the masculine ‘[name_m]Nole[/name_m]’.

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]-It’s not my personal favorite, but it’s kind of fun & different.

[name_f]Claire[/name_f]-Pretty, but doesn’t sparkle like some of the others.

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]-I really like this, but am pretty tired of ‘[name_f]Addie[/name_f]’ names.

Suggestions:

[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]

[name_f]Adelie[/name_f]

[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]

[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]

[name_f]Callista[/name_f]

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]

[name_f]Esme[/name_f]

[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]

[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]

[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

[name_f]Soleil[/name_f]

[name_f]Tallula[/name_f]

[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I voted for [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], but I like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] too! I like [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], but it feels short with [name_f]Cay[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]!! You’re right in that it does feel serious, but to me it also has some lightness and joy to it. It reminds me of Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u], which I love, and I love how rarely used it is.

Oh [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_m]Clay[/name_m] is just beautiful! I love all three names, but [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] definitely has the best flow and sounds the best next to [name_m]Clay[/name_m].

I love [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f]! I do think of [name_f]Tabby[/name_f] cats when I hear it but 1) It’s more a passing thought than an overwhelming association and 2) [name_f]Tabby[/name_f] cats are adorable. I think it’s a pretty positive association.

Thanks again for the feedback and suggestions! My husband likes [name_f]Esme[/name_f] but I don’t, I like [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] but he doesn’t, and we both like [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] but not more than the others. Right now I like all 3 about equally with maybe a sliiiight lean towards [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], and my husband is slightly leaning towards [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. We’ll see!

I voted for [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] - lovely, underrated choice! From your other options, [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] would be darling.

Have you considered [name_f]Christabel[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Geneva[/name_f]?

It was hard for me to choose, because [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Cay[/name_f] just rolls off the tongue so beautifully, but ultimately, I had to go with substance over sound, and I voted for [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f]. It’s a rare jewel of a name with a host of powerful, strong, connected women as namesakes. Familiar but not common, unusual but not bizarre, vintage but timeless, soft but strong. It sounds perfect for you!
