We've decided on Pacific as a first name for our son due soon. has anyone meet a one?

[name]Hi[/name],

we’ve decided on [name]Pacific[/name] as a first name for our son due soon. My husband knew a boy named [name]Pacific[/name] many years ago. Has anyone else met someone named [name]Pacific[/name]? I prefer nature names, we’re Australian so the [name]Pacific[/name] is relevant and if our eldest child had been a girl I had my heart set on [name]Blue[/name] (pre [name]Beyonce[/name]) so [name]Pacific[/name] is a good fit. Wondering what you all think.

thanks

I really like [name]Pacifica[/name] for a girl, not sure how I feel about [name]Pacific[/name]. It’s a really cool word, but I suppose because I’ve never met one it’s hard to make a connection.

I dont mind it… its a nice sounding word so I guess why not a name! I have never met one though!

If you dont mind me asking what IS your older childs name?

[name]Pacific[/name] is really interesting but could be a burden for your child. If you want a nm I would reccomend [name]Pax[/name].

[name]Zephyr[/name] is my older child’s name. We love it, we didn’t decide on it until he was born and I think it’s easier to get used to when you’re holding the baby and calling him by his name. I think the 2 names go OK, it would be hard to have one called [name]Zephyr[/name] and the next called [name]Barry[/name] hehe.

No, but I have it on my list I love it for a boy!

The only issue I have with [name]Pacific[/name] is that it sounds like a little kid trying to say “specific.” Personally I think it’s sort of weird, but [name]Pacific[/name] certainly isn’t the worst thing you can name a child. [name]Oceanus[/name] would be a better choice in my opinion, unless [name]Pacific[/name]'s siblings are Atlantic and Antarctic.

I think I like it! I do think it might need a more “accessible” nn. PP’s suggestion of [name]Pax[/name] makes sense. [name]Paz[/name] could work, too. For some reason this reminds me of an entry on appellation mountain about the name Meridian, which I also thought was cool.

I have to agree with southern.maple, a young [name]Pacific[/name] would probably have a tough time saying his own name! But to answer your question, I have yet to meet a [name]Pacific[/name] in real life, but I guess I could see it working on a little boy!

I much prefer [name]Ocean[/name].

No, I can’t say I have met anyone with the name [name]Pacific[/name].

[name]Paco[/name] is another nickname that could work

I have never met or heard of anyone named [name]Pacific[/name], and I think that it actually goes really well with [name]Zephyr[/name].

At the hospital we took two names with us [name]Zephyr[/name] and Miró. I love [name]Zephyr[/name] nn zef. Its such a great name. We ended up going w Miró since it was the name that my hubby liked most, then when we had or 3rd child (a girl) I got slightly more say. I have never met a [name]Pacific[/name] but I think it is a good solid name. I have met a [name]Placido[/name] and thought it was awesome and it does have similar sound. Recently I met another [name]Zephyr[/name] and his brothers name was [name]Jasper[/name], I felt like the names were mismatched. So, I see your need to have an equally cool name for Zephyrs brother.

I know a young man named [name]Teal[/name] [name]Ocean[/name] and a [name]Zephyr[/name] an [name]Finnegan[/name] sibset. [name]Pacific[/name] might be a hard name to have as an adult, but maybe not. I have a strange name and have to explain it, spell it, make comparisons every time I say it. It gets old.
