We've narrowed down to three...what do you think of each?

I posted some time back asking about [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] ([name]Annabeth[/name] or [name]Anna[/name] [name]Beth[/name]). However, I’ve since waffled and expanded to three choices. We might just wait until the baby gets here and see what fits best. (In fact, we won’t know what we’re having for a few more weeks, so we might not even have to worry about girl names since we’ve had a boy’s named picked out since before we were expecting: [name]John[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] nn [name]Jack[/name]).

So, here they are. I’m just looking for general feedback. For context, I’ll say that our last name is very French.

[name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (nn [name]Annabeth[/name])

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (This one’s my favorite, except that the nickname poses some problems. We like [name]Joey[/name]…we think? Too [name]Dawson[/name]'s Creek? I like [name]Jo[/name], but it rhymes with the final sound in our last name. I waver between thinking that the rhyming (think [name]Joe[/name] Piscopo) is slightly cute to thinking it’s obnoxious. Inevitably, some will call her [name]Jo[/name]. [name]How[/name] big of a problem is this? I’m not a huge fan of [name]Josie[/name], but I’m willing to be talked into it).

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (nn [name]Eliza[/name]…though my husband insists that he will call her [name]Lizzy[/name] B (last initial), which is just fine with me. My only concern with this one is that [name]Elizabeth[/name] is SO popular. [name]Eliza[/name], however, is less so ;)).

Thanks for any feedback you can provide!

I love [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (and [name]Annabeth[/name]! as a stand alone name or nickname.)

Seconding [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]! Also really like the smoosh nickname [name]Annabeth[/name] c@29 suggested. [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is really lovely too, but [name]Anna[/name] is just so pretty. Since you’re already considering it, I’d recommend having a short list and waiting until you meet her. I was skeptical about this with our first, but it really was quite obvious to both of us what her name was as soon as we saw her.

I love [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. Well, I love [name]Eliza[/name]. My cousin’s name is [name]Eliza[/name] and it is such a beautiful, cool name for her. I also love [name]Josie[/name].

I like [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name] with [name]Lizzy[/name] as her nickname. I wouldn’t worry so much on popularity if you don’t chose a name that you love just because it was popular at the time you could regret it. just my thoughts though.

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is my favourite. I like both [name]Joey[/name] ([name]Dawson[/name]'s Creek was a long time ago, I doubt a lot of people will think about that) and [name]Jo[/name] as nicknames, I think the rhyming is cute!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name]! so beautiful. the NN [name]Posey[/name] is just adorable

Go for [name]Joey[/name]. It reminds me one of the most popular character of T.V. show Friends. When your son will grow with this name, he will also start speaking “[name]How[/name] you doing” to girls. :stuck_out_tongue:

I find [name]Josephine[/name] very ugly, [name]Elizabeth[/name] bland.

[name]Annabeth[/name] is my personal favorite. [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is nice, maybe bland, but I find it so much better than [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name]. [name]IMO[/name], of course.

I think that [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is difficult to say. [name]Anne[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is much easier, though maybe not as desirable to you. I do prefer [name]Anna[/name] [name]Beth[/name] to [name]Annabeth[/name]. I work as an editor in an industry that constantly smooshes words together, and I just think it adds confusion and increases irritation.

Best of all, I like [name]Eliza[/name], with [name]Josephine[/name] as a second. I was never a [name]Josephine[/name] fan; however, my friend has a spunky little [name]Josephine[/name]/[name]Josie[/name], and she’s as sweet as can be. [name]Joey[/name] is totally adorable too.

All gorgeous names! [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is the most liltingly beautiful; if you go with [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name], I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Josie[/name]; [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is solid. [name]Annabeth[/name] and [name]Lizzie[/name] B are both adorable. I know that’s not much help, probably–I think you’re right to wait and see what fits her (if her)!

1 [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - Other’s nn’s are [name]Posey[/name], [name]Fifi[/name] or [name]Fee[/name].
2 [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - I love [name]Annabeth[/name]
3 [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - two classics but predictable

I love the name [name]Josephine[/name]! Nn’s are great too

Thanks, everyone! Good suggestions.

First off - [name]John[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] is adorable. I love that name!

[name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - I love this one too. So classic. I love [name]Annabeth[/name] as well, it’s different…not a name you hear often.

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - I love love love [name]Josephine[/name]. However, I don’t like [name]Grace[/name]. I feel like so many people give their girls the middle name [name]Grace[/name]. What about something more interesting like [name]Pearl[/name]? I like [name]Joey[/name] a lot as a nickname. [name]Josephine[/name] is so feminine and [name]Joey[/name] is kind of more tomboy-ish. I don’t like [name]Jo[/name] because I agree, I think it will sound obnoxious if it rhymes with your last name. I do love [name]Josie[/name] the most. It’s so stylish and a bit more feminine, which is my taste.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - [name]Even[/name] if [name]Elizabeth[/name] is popular, it’s only popular because it’s so classic. It will never be trendy- it’s simply classic. I like [name]Eliza[/name] a lot! [name]Lizzy[/name] is cute for a young girl and then maybe she can grow into an [name]Eliza[/name]

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is my favorite, although all of your choices are beautiful. As for a nickname, I am enamored with [name]Joss[/name]. [name]Just[/name] another option for you to consider.

I think each of your choices are really beautiful! And you have some really nice nicknames as well! If I had to choose very fave, it would be [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and I happen to love nn [name]Josie[/name]! So cute. The other two names are a tie for me, equally pretty. I much prefer [name]Eliza[/name] to [name]Lizzy[/name] though!

as the momma of a [name]Josef[/name]… I would go for [name]Josephine[/name]! Its so spunky!

I personally [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Josie[/name]!!! I thnk a little [name]Josie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would be adorable!

Second pick would be [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]! I prefer the spunkyness of [name]Eliza[/name] to [name]Elizabeth[/name]!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. As a nickname, I prefer [name]Josie[/name]…it sounds girly yet playful, flirty and french-like enough to go with yor last name without overdoing it. I know a [name]Josephine[/name] that goes by Sephy.

[name]Anna[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (nn [name]Annabeth[/name]) gets my vote. Classic names with a sweet nickname. Sounds like there are really no issues with the name. I think [name]Anna[/name] is pretty common (though not as common as [name]Elizabeth[/name]), but using [name]Annabeth[/name] will give your daughter a less common nickname with a name that is a timeless.

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is a nice name, but I wouldn’t give it first place simply because of the issues you seem to be having with nicknames. Plus, I don’t think that [name]Josephine[/name] is as nice with [name]John[/name]/[name]Jack[/name] as the other names you’re considering. And you might be setting yourself up for a J theme if you have more than two kids and your next child is a boy.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is very pretty and would be my second choice. [name]Elizabeth[/name] is well-used, but I wouldn’t call it common. It’s a great name that is used pretty consistently, and with good reason. As common as it would appear to be, I actually don’t know any little Elizabeths. I wonder if some parents are using the given name [name]Elizabeth[/name] but calling their daughter [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Ella[/name]. To me, a name like [name]Elizabeth[/name] stands out big-time and reflects remarkable taste at a time when trendy names with funky spellings abound. If you’re a little bored with [name]Elizabeth[/name], I think using the nn [name]Eliza[/name] is a great idea, as [name]Eliza[/name] is not so popular (but still a nice name). [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Eliza[/name] would go well with [name]Jack[/name]. I don’t think it would get too confusing to use [name]Eliza[/name] primarily but have Daddy call her [name]Lizzy[/name] B, either…it’s actually kind of sweet for him to have a special nn for her.
