What do you think about the name Bingley? I know [name]Darcy[/name] is used for girls and [name]Austen[/name] for boys but I think Bingley could work on a modern day boy. He could even go by [name]Bing[/name]. Thoughts?
Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about Bingley. Right now I would say I am not really a fan but it is a name that could possibly grow on me. I do think the nickname of [name]Bing[/name] is rather cool.
I used to have a jolly, chubby orange tabby cat named Bingley. I’m not sure how this could work for a first name. It has sort of a comical sound, to me. Plus [name]Bing[/name] is the name of a major search engine. I totally love [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name] but if you want to honor Mr Bingley I’d recommed [name]Charles[/name].
This. Minus the cat
I love the web series The [name]Lizzie[/name] [name]Bennett[/name] Diaries and it made me love the nn [name]Bing[/name]. I think Bingley totally works.
Honestly, it feels really dorky to me. I think it’s because [name]Bing[/name] rhymes with ding and, despite [name]Bing[/name] [name]Crosby[/name], I think ding dong, ding-a-long, ding bat, etc. (These are all insults my little cousins throw around; I don’t use them. :p)
Sounds like the name of a clown or an animal, reminds me of the circus.
Sorry.
I like it, and I think the nn [name]Bing[/name] is great
I love the nn [name]Bing[/name] because of The [name]Lizzie[/name] [name]Bennet[/name] Diaries (which is a really nice modernization of P&P and probably the only time I’ve ever liked [name]Lydia[/name] as a character!) as well, but I have a hard time taking it seriously as a first name. I think Bingley would make a terrific middle name.
I’m sorry, but I don’t like it at all. It sounds like the name of a clown, or a clumsy cartoon character.
Bingley! I’m such a [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name] fan and I love [name]Charles[/name] Bingley! He’s so… for lack of a better word, cute.
I have been considering Bingley for my own list, but I thought with [name]Charles[/name] (and potentially [name]Darcy[/name] or [name]Fitzwilliam[/name] as a mn, I figured it might be P&P overload (not to mention [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Jane[/name], and [name]Catherine[/name] on my girls’ list!).
I don’t really think of this as a name. Although the nn [name]Bing[/name] can be great if you have a thing for [name]Bing[/name] [name]Crosby[/name] I guess…
I like the nn [name]Bing[/name] but would prefer [name]Bingham[/name] or [name]Benjamin[/name]/[name]Binyamin[/name]
I don’t dislike it. I think i’d prefer [name]Bingham[/name] though, as it would age better. I know it loses it’s literary connection though…
Not a fan at all! Sorry. Its very silly sounding, I think it would be hard to take this name seriously. Sounds like a pet name!
Lol - totallt the name of a clown or a clumsy cartoon character - perfect description. It sounds fake and made up. I really wish this trend of adding -ly to words would be put to rest.
MeetCute- I think you are mistaken about the origin of this name. It may be “on trend” because it ends in ly but it is not “made up” or simply ly tacked on to the end of a word. But I do agree it would be hard for a modern boy to wear.
I understand the literary appeal… but its a bit odd for a first name. [name]How[/name] would you like it if it were your name? or your husband’s name? Test it out like that for a while to be sure you really like it, or not. I don’t think [name]Bing[/name] is all that appealing, but Bingley as a middle name isn’t bad.
I’d find Bingley odd as a name. I just keep hearing it in a very Mrs [name]Bennett[/name] sort of tone of voice and it doesn’t appeal to me. (Though [name]Darcy[/name] doesn’t either). I’d almost prefer Netherfield - despite the groin imagery it evokes.
I think it sounds like a talking animal in a cartoon. If you like [name]Bing[/name], I think [name]Bingham[/name] has far more gravitas.
