What do you think of [name_m]Clinton[/name_m]? We like [name_m]Clint[/name_m] as a nickname but fear it may be easily made fun of with the easy drop of the ‘n’
I actually started liking the name when I saw it on an episode of Bones. I personally would probably be hesitant to use it because of the president connection.
As for the nn, I like [name_m]Clint[/name_m], it makes me think of [name_m]Clint[/name_m] [name_m]Eastwood[/name_m], I think there is a teasing potential, but every name or nn has that, it is impossible to avoid
[name_m]Clint[/name_m] without the N was my first thought… I knew a guy named [name_m]Clint[/name_m] (just [name_m]Clint[/name_m]) in college, in Arabic class and our teacher couldn’t pronounce the ‘-nt’ so it definitely came out sounding like something else! With my accent the T is barely pronounced so it’s not as much of an issue, but I also tend to not like names with that combination because it’s so hard for me to say so others understand it.
I also think with the Clintons still being so prominent here (I’m in the US) it’s probably best as a middle if you decide to use it as all…
I hate to say it, as I’m generally in the camp of: “If you really love a name, go for it, and screw what anyone else says.” But I don’t think [name_m]Clinton[/name_m] is usable in the U.S. Not now, maybe not for several more generations beyond the presidential scandal. I just wouldn’t touch it, as great as the name or nickname might be without the cultural associations. There’s a little boy at the daycare where I work named [name_m]Quinton[/name_m]. For the first week, until I saw it written, I thought it was [name_m]Clinton[/name_m], and I had to stop myself from cringing visibly whenever someone called him.
I genuinely don’t mean to crush you, but…just no. Not yet. Not for a very long time. Your grandchildren or great-grandchildren’s generation.
I love [name_m]Clint[/name_m]! Not crazy about [name_m]Clinton[/name_m].
