I recently started a thread about our two day old son who has no name. Thank you for all of your wonderful suggestions! I wish I could say that we have a name now but, embarrassingly, at 12 days old, he still hasn’t been named
Everything I’ve been pushing for, my husband just doesn’t like. I’ve wanted to go for names including:
My husband really liked [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] but it’s just too popular for me. I thought maybe [name_m]Evander[/name_m] might be a good middle ground? But now that he’s on board I’m not so sure it will work with siblings A D E L A I D E and E D M U N D.
Is [name_m]Evander[/name_m] just too different in style to our current son’s and daughter’s names? I really liked the idea of using another traditional but underused name, as I believe
A D E L A I D E and E D M U N D to be. These names bring about connotations of nobility and royalty for me. I’m just not sure [name_m]Evander[/name_m] has those same associations?
This all seems very trivial, I know, but I really want to be comfortable with this name choice, given that it’s our last shot at it; this is our very last child. I don’t want to have any regrets or doubts.
What do you think about [name_m]Evander[/name_m] with our sibset? Is there another name you see being a better fit?
[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Evander[/name_m]! I think it fits perfectly with the sibling names you have listed. And a lot of nickname options if you want one.
I think [name_m]Evander[/name_m] works well with your other two. The vowel beginning also ties the names together nicely Honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about them being considered names from the exact same categories. As long as they don’t clash (which they definitely don’t!) and you both feel comfortable and happy with the name, I’d say you’ve found a winner!
I think [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is fantastic, it’s on my own list too (along with a handful of your other boys choices!). I always wonder why it isn’t more popular too, it’s a perfect [name_u]Evan[/name_u]/[name_m]Ethan[/name_m]/[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]/[name_m]Xander[/name_m] smush with a lovely history.
I like the Scottish connection of the name best (anglicisation of Iomhar/[name_m]Ivarr[/name_m]) , but there was also an [name_m]Evander[/name_m] in [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology. I would honestly assume that they mutually influenced each rather than being separate histories, just knowing the nature of names/culture in [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Celtic [name_m]Britain[/name_m].
Ultimately I think [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is fab with your other kids. All the best with the final naming decision, though
I like [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. I think it works well with your other kids. I’m not a fan of [name_m]Ernest[/name_m], it doesnt feel as youthful and adventurous.
