What about Poppy?

Title says all! What are your opinions on [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]? Can it work as a full name in it’s own right? Would [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] make a good sister for [name_f]Coral[/name_f]/[name_u]Jude[/name_u]/[name_m]Harry[/name_m]? Middle name would be [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].

Thank you for the wonderful feedback you all have given me so far!

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is cute. I think it does work but I think about a lawyer named [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]… And I think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is destined to be a baker or a florist. Not that that’s bad. Cute on a baby and a little girl, but adult? You decide.

Have you considered [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a nickname?
Some names I’ve seen nn as [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]:
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] goes well with your other names. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] can definitely be a stand alone name. I love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], she is fun, spunky, full-of-life. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is beautiful.

I love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is sweet. (I think I’d personally opt for [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Caterina[/name_f] or [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] personally, but [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] seems perfect for you.) I think [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Coral[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and [name_m]Harry[/name_m] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] would all make great twinsets, although [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is by far my favorite (although [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is pretty close!). I would love to meet a [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] has grown on me since it comes up on Nameberry pretty frequently, but it still sounds to me like more of a nickname for a very small child than a formal name that grows up well. I also have trouble getting over the fact that a lot of grandpas get called [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and Papi.

I like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a name and don’t feel that it needs a longer name. I don’t think I could personally use it on my child but I would love to meet one. If I were inclined to use it I would definitely find a longer name that had [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a nickname just in case my child wanted another option when they became an adult. I think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is a beautiful name and I feel it goes well with [name_f]Coral[/name_f], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. I prefer [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] over [name_f]Coral[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is a fine name that works on its own, and [name_f]Coral[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] or [name_m]Harry[/name_m] work well as sibling names. I think of [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m], the owner of the makeup brand Lipstick [name_f]Queen[/name_f]. And [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] Delevingne.

Thanks for all of the responses! I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] could be way up there on the list with [name_f]Coral[/name_f].

I know lots of people love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], but for me, [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] has 3 associations, none of which I find very desirable: 1. opium, 2. nickname for a grandfather, and 3. remembrance of those who died in WWI.

I MUCH prefer [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Coral[/name_f].
