I want to add my official thumbs up for [name]Sally[/name], which I think is a charming if sleepy nickname name that works just fine on its own or can be a short form for many of the options suggested. I think [name]Sally[/name] has more character than [name]Sadie[/name] or [name]Sophie[/name] or many of the more “stylish” names. Of course I love [name]Susannah[/name] too and like [name]Sabina[/name] and [name]Selena[/name], but I think [name]Sally[/name] is an absolutely great choice.
I TOTALLY agree, and I’m so happy to see more “thumbs up” for [name]Sally[/name]!
My first daughter has always loved the name [name]Sally[/name] ever since reading “[name]Sally[/name]'s [name]Secret[/name]” by british children’s author [name]Shirley[/name] [name]Hughes[/name] when she was 2 years old.
Because she loved it so much we considered it for our second daughter, but in the end decided it sounded too common (not popular, just plain - I’m an [name]Anne[/name], which I’ve always disliked so I’ve tried to avoid giving plain names to my daughters).
I’ve always thought of [name]Sally[/name] as nn for [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or at least [name]Sarah[/name].
Given the recent uptake of ‘[name]Jane[/name]’ perhaps [name]Sally[/name] will also make a comeback?
Thanks again, everyone! I’m also glad for the [name]Sally[/name] support!!! Lots of wonderful names, but it’s still the one that makes me smile the most! I laughed too about the little [name]Sally[/name] with siblings [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]… coincidentally this future little one would have cat siblings named [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Oscar[/name]!!! Again, so much thanks!!! --j
