[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] has come up recently as an option…I’m not sure what I think.
I like that it has history, is easily recognized and spelled, and not common now. And I like the V! I really like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] but dislike the different spelling options and its popularity. I also like [name_f]Vera[/name_f] but it sounds too similar to what we call big sister.
I guess I just want to hear your opinions on [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]! I know a [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] in her late teens so it’s not unheard of. The “virgin” in it makes me a little hesitant, but I like the sound and I think [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] would be a cute nickname.
I don’t like it. I find it very outdated and I can’t get past the ‘virgin’ in it and the teasing bound to come with that.
I think it is really pretty!
I love it! It sounds very sweet to me. It’s on my list! [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] is a cute nickname option.
I love [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], but I am not sold on [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] yet. I prefer [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], which has a similar substance, but feels slightly sleeker. [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] feels a little bit clunky to me. However, I do think it is usable and could be really charming. I think it would be super helpful to meet a real baby/girl named [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
I don’t like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], and I am a resident of that state.
It sounds bland, heavy, and too governmental for me to like it. I also personally have issues with the blatant virgin reference.
[name_f]Ginny[/name_f] is adorable if taken from [name_f]Ginger[/name_f].
I actually really like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. I know two girls with this name, a preschooler and a college student, both with the misfortune of living in the state lol. Neither go by nicknames that I’m aware of, but I like the idea of the nickname [name_f]Nia[/name_f]. I’ve never heard of either of them getting teased/comments about virgin being in their name, and I really wouldn’t worry about that happening. It seems rather unlikely imo.
I like [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], but [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] isn’t usable for me, with the “virgin” and “vagina” jokes. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] I do love, and [name_f]Vivianne[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Vera[/name_f] too, and more so, [name_f]Verity[/name_f]. [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] are stunning, if you love the initial.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I think if I had a baby girl today I’d name her [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u], and call her [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], and sometimes [name_f]Ginny[/name_f]-[name_u]James[/name_u] because I think that combo is super cute.
I’m personally not a fan of the name, but it’s very classic and timeless. I prefer [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. You can play with the name, too : [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f], [name_u]Avery[/name_u].
Other V names : [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
While the name sounds lovely, I can’t help but remember the girl from Middle School named [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. She got made fun of for her name. I’m not a fan of the name. People always made jokes about her sexual experience
Wow! Thanks for all of the different opinions here! I can see both sides and understand the reasons everyone mentioned for both liking it and disliking it.
I really like the idea of it but I can’t get past “virgin” in the name.
I like the nickname [name_f]Ginny[/name_f].
I am a bit on the fence with [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. I picture [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] as a simple, classic, “cool girl” name like [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] but it’s hard not to see the “Virgin” in it even when you say the name.
