I heart [name]Callista[/name], nn: [name]Callie[/name]. I didn’t want to use it-because we have too many “Ka’s” in our family-[name]Kyle[/name], [name]Christina[/name] and [name]Cate[/name].
I also heart all the top ten girl names–esp. [name]Isabella[/name] & [name]Sophia[/name]- but I just didn’t want that popular of a name for her. (though-there were always some "christi’s-[name]Christine[/name]'s in my classes as a kid-and it never bothered-or occurred to me!)
No kids yet, so I still have a chance!! I really, REALLY want to name my first son [name]Henry[/name], preferably mn Albus. I also like mn [name]Alan[/name], in memory of my uncle. I would be so thrilled to have a little [name]Henry[/name] running around! I’ve even had a dream about him, which just made me so happy…and I think my mom’s starting to like it now too, which is great! Hopefully someday I’ll get to use [name]Henry[/name].
[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] . . . couldn’t use because I have a [name]Henry[/name] already. Husband vetoed [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] names, including [name]Elspeth[/name] which I also love.
I really wanted to use [name]Jonah[/name] for our first son, but DH vetoed it. [name]Tobias[/name] was right up there though, so I’m totally happy with his name. Instead of [name]Jonah[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] or [name]Jonah[/name] [name]David[/name], I got [name]Tobias[/name] [name]Kevin[/name] and [name]Toby[/name] fits him so well.
For the next kid I’m pretty sure I’m going to be faced with a compromise. For a boy I’d want [name]Jonah[/name] again, but I know DH will veto again. For a girl I’m totally loving on [name]Hazel[/name]…but I have a bad feeling that DH will think it’s too “old lady.” He likes [name]Allison[/name]…and so do I, but it’s way too popular for me.
For my boys - [name]RYAN[/name], [name]KYLE[/name] and [name]ALEXANDER[/name]. I have always loved these names for boys, with [name]Alexander[/name] being my favorite, but hubby didn’t like any of them, instead we went with [name]JUSTIN[/name] and [name]JACOB[/name].
For my girls - I got my absolute favorite name for my daughter, [name]ALANNA[/name]. And now we’re trying to decide on a name for our 2nd girl. I really like all the ones on our list, BUT my favorites for this baby have gotten nixed by hubby. [name]CAILYN[/name] and [name]LEIGHTON[/name]. I also really like [name]SENECA[/name], but I’m not sure I would actually use it - maybe if all of my children had similar names I would.
I like [name]Toby[/name]-but [name]Jonah[/name] too. Maybe [name]Jonah[/name] will grow on him? My husband vetoed some of my names-but not the ones I really like-thank goodness. We’ve only had girls-so, if we had a boy-I think my hubiie would get more involved and veto more!
[name]Henry[/name] is my favorite boy’s name - fortunately, DP loves it too and little [name]Henry[/name] is due in less than 2 weeks! I also love [name]William[/name] (but it’s too popular for me) and [name]Jude[/name] (DP hates this one).
Now for the girls: I really love [name]Hazel[/name] and would like to honor my grandmother by naming a girl after her - DP hates this name We have several girl’s names that we agree on, though, so if #2 is a girl we should be fine. If we have a second boy, there may be trouble…
[name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are two of my favorite girls’ names, but they sound awful with my last name which is [name]Chesney[/name].
I love the name [name]Jack[/name], but it’s so popular. Same with [name]Jacob[/name] - it’s super popular. [name]Love[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Andrew[/name], too - same problem. I would use [name]Andrew[/name] as a middle name though.
I love several P names such as [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Patience[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Paul[/name] which just don’t sound right with our last name which starts with P.
Did you look up your last name on here? Apparently it’s listed as a name. I think the comment they made for it is funny (nothing against you or the last name). I’m sure you know of the artist [name]Kenny[/name] [name]Chesney[/name]? Nameberry said "We don’t care how much you love [name]Kenny[/name]: this is going too far. " I couldn’t believe that people actually would name their child after his last name! lol
[name]Allegra[/name] - I love this name but due to the medicine association I won’t use it as a first name. I love it enough I may probably use it as a mn though.
[name]Arianna[/name] - Another name I have always loved but a few people I know have used it now so its pretty much ruined for me.
[name]Estella[/name] - I love this name but DH doesn’t!
[name]Luca[/name] - Nephew
There are tons more I’ve ruled out for different reasons ([name]Chiara[/name], [name]Gaia[/name], [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Alessia[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Sofia[/name] just to name a few…)
Its frusterating when you love a name but then discover that “off” thing about it that ruins it for you. I’m keeping my current top three girls’ names close to the vest so hopefully I will be able to use my choice of them when the time comes.
I [name]LOVE[/name] boys names ending in “an”, especially Cohan and [name]Talan[/name], but my partner’s surname is 2 syllables and ends in “an”! It’s devastating but I’m trying to broaden my horizons.
I also love [name]Harper[/name] and [name]Harlow[/name] for girls, but my partner’s surname starts with H so I think it’s a bit much.
I love the name [name]Peyton[/name] [name]Willow[/name] for a girl but find it’s not the easiest name to say… and it’s a little masculine… but I can’t stop loving it.
[name]Savannah[/name] - I love this name since it has special meaning to my future husband and I (we met while we lived there), but I have to admit, its lost a lot of its charm due to its popularity. However, I still might use it in spite of that! Ha!
[name]Charlotte[/name] - [name]Sister[/name] used it.
[name]Violet[/name] - Ditto.
[name]Lavender[/name] - Ditto
[name]Austin[/name] - See [name]Savannah[/name].
I absolutely love [name]Felix[/name], but my husband is dead set against it. He has a colleague that he dislikes named [name]Felix[/name], and thinks that the cat association is too strong. I also love [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Dahlia[/name], but I can’t convince dh to go for a non-French name, sigh.
