Hey Berries!
I just thought of this idea and thought I would share it with you! What are a names you like and would love to use, but you can’t use them?
A few examples for me are…
[name_f]Serenity[/name_f]- I really like this name but can’t use it since it’s close to my sister’s name [name_f]Trinity[/name_f]
[name_f]Reyna[/name_f]- This name is so pretty! I can’t use it because my older cousin claimed this name
[name_f]Jessica[/name_f]- Really nice name but my mother claimed it
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]- I love this name and it’s actually in my UC in some way. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother has this name but I could use it as a honor initial
[name_u]Alex[/name_u]- I love this name and it’s also in my UC but my younger cousin claimed this name
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m]- Another name in my UC however, it’s way to similar to my uncle’s name [name_u]Chris[/name_u]
[name_m]Ian[/name_m]- Why do I keep on putting names I can’t use in my UC?!? I sadly can’t use [name_m]Ian[/name_m] because I have heard of some terrible associations with this name (example that UK people might know: [name_m]Ian[/name_m] [name_u]Brady[/name_u], a child murderer known for the Moors Murders. I always think of him as soon as I see or think of that name)
Vera - it is a name of my father’s wife
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - bad associations in my family
[name_m]Victor[/name_m] - the same as [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] & [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m] - too much of them in my family
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f], Yunona, [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_m]Ruslan[/name_m] - can’t use them because of my own religious promises but still love very much
Emerson. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother’s bff’s daughter has that name. I’ve thought of [name_u]Emery[/name_u] but it’s too similar to [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
Freya. I love it so much but it rhymes with my name ;(
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] mum has bad associations with an [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
Anastasia - cousin named her daughter this
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] - see [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] - my niece is named [name_u]Madison[/name_u]
Charlie - cousin named her son this
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] - see [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] ([name_m]Leo[/name_m]’s bro)
That’s all I can think of for now but I know there’s more!
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. It’s way to similar to my best friends name. (And I fully hope we’ll still be friends when I have children which will be in a loooong time, but I know that we might not me.)
Natasha — bad associations
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] — one of my close friends is [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u] — best friend’s name
[name_f]Erin[/name_f] — 2 family members
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f] — family member
[name_f]Nona[/name_f]— my best friend’s cat
Daniel — already taken by 2 family members
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] — cousin used it
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] — literally the family pet
[name_u]Sean[/name_u] — family member
Jinny. I love the spelling [name_f]Jinny[/name_f] and wholeheartedly prefer it over [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], but I’ve put it aside due to some comments I’ve received before (nothing mean, just makes me a bit hesitant to use it irl)
Boys:
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]: bc it’s my late cousin’s ex husband’s name.
[name_u]Sean[/name_u]: associated w/one of the kids I taught
[name_m]Cohen[/name_m]: controversial reason
Girls:
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]: bad association
[name_f]Kassandra[/name_f]: bad association
[name_f]Betty[/name_f]: mom doesn’t like it
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]: mom doesn’t like it
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]: too popular
Cassian: I like the pronunciation cass-ee-an but so many people would use cash-an
[name_m]Lucien[/name_m]: same as above - I like lu-see-en, others use lu-shen
[name_m]Draco[/name_m]: obvious reasons
[name_m]Lucifer[/name_m]: even obvious-er reasons
Astraea: sounds too much like Australia in a stereotypical southern aussie accent lol
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]: ped-
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]: the proper Welsh pronunciation (e-loh-wen, not ell-oh-wen) feels awkward to me and I wouldn’t want to disrespect the language by intentionally pronouncing it wrong
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]: loved it for years, but now it’s too popular
I’ve been cultivating my list with my partner’s last name in mind but I’ve recently been thinking I might prefer to pass on my name instead, which unfortunately rules out a lot of my favourite names… [name_f]My[/name_f] last name is a nature word and my fave first names are nature words so together they sound too descriptive or like fairy names! E.g. [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_u]Cedar[/name_u], [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
Jack- my cousin has a baby named [name_u]Jackson[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucifer[/name_m]- obvious reasons
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]- I have a cousin named this
[name_f]Mazikeen[/name_f]- heavily associated with [name_m]Lucifer[/name_m]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]- my mom’s cats name
[name_f]Jessa[/name_f]- my aunt is jessica
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]- my name is lily
These are all either relatives, personal bad associations, or people too close that I wouldn’t be able to use. Honestly though I would probably still consider using all of these but when it came down to actually doing it, I don’t think I could especially with the relatives names.

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
( not sure if I answered this thread already) I want to use all the names I am love with but my partner isn’t in love with lol. But that wouldn’t be fair but I’ll still gloat in the corner about it
Lawrence. I just love this classic gem so much. It’s handsome, literary and the nickname [name_m]Lawrie[/name_m] or [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is just so
Gabriel. Who doesn’t picture a dashing curly blonde, blue eyed cherub of a baby/teen/man lol. This one got away too and I am most pi**ed about it
Girls
[name_f]Clara[/name_f], he can’t take to it because it’s the name of a radio presenter here in the UK… Erm yeah so.
Verity- he says it sounds like a name of a snobby girl. But he is kinda neutral on it. Helpful lol.
