What are your Eliza predictions?

I’m in the midwest of the US, and I know of 3 [name]Eliza[/name]'s under 3, although it’s social security ranking doesn’t indicate it is that high. Is my experience just random, or is [name]Eliza[/name] on it’s way to the top?
It is the only name on my “Final list @ 39 weeks…” post where I know someone with the name, but they are all acquaintances.

[name]How[/name] popular will it become?

Thanks!

I love [name]Eliza[/name], but I doubt it will ever be anything but mildly popular, if that. It’s at 278, I doubt it will ever make it into the top 100, though.

Oh, [name]Eliza[/name]'s one of my favorites - I’ve only met two, and they are in their early twenties! I completely agree with @flick. Although she seems to have everything you need to be at the top of the name pack, I don’t think she’ll be there. I’d predict she’ll stay out of the top 100, actually, but if she does break that, she’ll probably hover around the top rather than make a dip down to extreme popularity. I’ve noticed that many of the popular classics (i.e., [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Emma[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Emily[/name], and [name]Abigail[/name]) have either a romantic feminine flair or a sweetly elegant feel. [name]Eliza[/name], to me, is both feminine and sweet, but she isn’t overtly either - rather, she’s the perfect package of vintage sophisticate.

I think it might be a coincidence in your case. I definitely would say [name]Eliza[/name] is more popular than it was when I was growing up, but I don’t think it’s becoming wildly popular. Go for it!

I agree that [name]Eliza[/name] will likely stay out of the top 100. It is quirky, and lovely but I just don’t see it having mass appeal. I only know one [name]Eliza[/name] who is in her late twenties. I love the name too.

Our [name]Eliza[/name] is 5 months old now. We’ve never met another baby whose name is [name]Eliza[/name] irl. There’s a little girl called “[name]Eliza[/name]” in my 7 year old son’s class–but for her it’s a nickname for [name]Elizabeth[/name].
Our pediatrician’s nurse told me last week that she has a 20 year old daughter named [name]Eliza[/name], and my [name]Eliza[/name] is the only other one she’s met.
It’s not that popular around here. If you like it, go for it!
Good luck.

Hmmm… so interesting! I’m glad to hear you don’t think she’ll be the next “it” name. I’ll have to think about whether I am willing to give up the “oooooh, that is new and refreshing” reaction since we do know a handful of [name]Eliza[/name]'s and thus our mutual friends have heard about them too. [name]Eliza[/name] is not as unique “my circle” as my other top names: [name]Bridget[/name], [name]Cecily[/name] and [name]Greta[/name], so I’ll have to think about it some more. Thanks for weighing in!

It’s probably just popular in your area. I think [name]Eliza[/name]'s always going to be one of those names that’s around (Not common, but not unheard of), especially since it can be a stand alone name or a nickname for [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I think if you love it, then you should use it anyway, popular or not.
